Sadly all you can do is sit there with fingers crossed and hope that SOE correct they're mistake

Razorthorn is involved again in a situation where the person is most likely innocent? Sounds like something in that zone is triggering their program that monitors for ghostkilling.

Gloruk, I'm not sure exactly what I said or did but when Sony told me that they were banning my account for this, I fought and they finally gave it back. I can only assume that If you do the same thing, that there is a chance that you can do the same.

My approach was to be as polite as I could. Sony has a way of almost intimidating you into submission in some cases so be prepared to be firm if you have to. The things they said I was doing were not in high lvl zones, nor did I gain much from them. I'm not sure exactly how much xp or rewards were gained but I'm sure that plays a role in how seriously they take it. I posted a link of the "Recent Account banns for Hacking" thread on the Sony forums a few days ago. Before they took it down the Forum Admin did mention that the had heard of this happening often, but that the GM's and techies never look at the forums. I can't imagine that the people who ban accounts are completely oblivious to this happening so if you plead your case vigorously enough, hopefully you will get noticed.

Perhaps going through the normal EQ channels i.e. Petitions, EQ forum, Phone and
Email. We should take it straight to the top. I'm sure we can find the name of someone within the EQ hierarchy, who of course deals with these issues, and send them a letter explaining exactly what is going on.

I'm sure you have thought of all of this, to be honest I'm completely in the dark here as well. If you have time look over my dialog with Sony about my banning and see if there is anything you can get from it.

It sounds to me like you guys have already tried to contact Lyman Tuttle, the Account Administrator SOE.

Lyman Tuttle
Sony Online Entertainment LLC

Who by the way refers to himself as the "Lord of NO" if that gives any incentive to seak help from him

http://stationsupport.wordpress.com/2008/04/01/lord-of-no/

If you want to read his take on..well...him.

Another name I came accross is
Brad Wilcox
Executive Director of Global Customer Service

Unfortunately I don't have any contact info for him. The great thing about contacting Exec's and Directors, is that they are usually pretty pissed that the problem made it all the way to them, and they will make sure that it doesn't make it to them again.

I wish you the best of luck! I want this to get resolved just as much as you do!

Maybe they would do better to just hire these people who are making these hacks to make the game hack proof.

I have seen far too many innocent bannings of late. Posters here have mentioned it would be impossible for ghost killing to be mistaken for anything else. I truly want to know what is behind all of this. The anti-hack methods are not working, as there is a new post like this every week mentioning how they were wrongly banned.

With policies like this, it wont be long before EQ is a memory. And I truely hate to see that.

They could go belly up tomorrow...and if they did all you should be out is a month of fee's. Saving a a buck or two to get 2 years of gaming...that's lame.

Paying 2 years in advance, costs, what, $199. Paying $14.99 a month costs $359.76 over the same 2 years. That's a savings of $160.76 or 44.6%.

So I guess it's wrong for people to save like 160 bucks then, eh? That would pay for the 2 expansions in that time, with enough money to upgrade the PC at the same time.

Risk vs. Reward

Personally, I would never pay for more than one month at a time. No, I do not have money to throw around; however, I can barely say what my play time will be like on a weekly basis, yet alone on a yearly basis.

Knowing that Sony has everyone by the short hairs when it comes to your account, paying for two years in one shot is not a risk I would be willing to take.

Edit:

$199 for 2 years = $8.29 per month
One month at a time = $14.99

For $6.69 per month, I guess I do have money to throw around. Heck, I waste that much per month in gas by trying to beat people off the line at red lights.

Well 2 things are never going to happen.

1.Sony isnt going to stop doing this. That would require a little accountability.Big companys work like the government.Pass the buck and no one knows anything about it or its not their resposibility.

2.Nobody is really going to give a crap until it happens to them. This is just life.Innocent people are thrown in prison every day due to lazy police and prosecuters. No one really knows or cares TILL IT HAPPENS TO YOU.

I dont know if everyone is going to run around being paranoid but in a game where finding a group can be difficult its not the best idea to be banning your customer base for grouping with someone who MAY be hacking.

Wow what a small world. As i was passing by checking some stuff i saw a name that was familiar, Altho the last time i seen that name he was a lvl 30 alt of the mighty glormanes! :) Hey Glor and Inv, Trinaty Unholy here /bow and /salute its been a long time. I just heard about what they did to Oz from an old friend the other day so its weird that i would wander past this exact post now. I don't really have much to say since I've been gone from the game for 2 years but i would just like to say that these are some of the finest and skilled folks i've ever had the pleasure of Grouping with, and by no means cheaters. Oz is an exceptionaly nice guy and i can remember camping things for 14 hrs with my necro and his warrior and cleric. I hope all works out for him cause this is clearly a huge mistake. Remembering SOE tho i doubt it will. Good luck guys and great to see old names in such a random fashion. /bonk tree for me when you see him next :)

I am so sorry for your trouble. In December 2004 I had logged on normally then all of a sudden I had a black screen saying my account had been suspended (banned was not a word on the screen). At that time Soe did not want you to call them. I spent 7 1/2 hours trying to get someone on the telephone. I sent letters that fell into a black hole. After two weeks I surrendered and went to the Secretary of State site for the state of California. You can get the name of the person the state holds responsible for the corp with his address and, possibly, a telephone number there. I fedexed a request they stop billing my credit card for the three accounts we had no access to. Result: they banned my wife's account too.

Warning, I sent a request to reinstate my accounts and was informed they would email a response to an email address I had not had for four years. I had been happily playing for 5 years and did not call or attempt to update my info with them.

Eight months later I received a callback from someone with SOE. Upshot, they acknowledged their error and their theft of my money and said they'd let me start playing again if I wanted. I said I wanted the money they'd stolen back. I still wish i could have reached or could find the scum I was speaking with. All four accounts stil banned. All due to soe's screwups and arrogance.

Having tried several other games this is the best as far as content, but the reason is has servers with populations less than a thousand is their wonderful customer service. Good luck in getting anything apropos done.
