I'm having a blast making new characters on the Combine and running around doing old school quests in zones I never went in as a newb dark elf back in the day. While browsing Alla's for old quests in Qeynos I found the lute one where you run around picking up lute pieces. As I was browsing a vendor for the lute pieces I came across horn/trumpet pieces. I thought if it worked for the lute, it might work for the horn pieces, but sadly, Belious Naliedin told me he had no use for them.
So I am curious. Alla's doesn't list them as being part of a quest, or any recipe, yet they are normal merchant merchandise. Is this part of an unfinished quest? Has anyone else pursued this? Heard rumors, EQ urban legends about it?

The instrument pieces (raw bamboo, mouthpiece, etc) have been in the game since release. From what I remember, the original intent was to make instruments craftable as a tradeskill. They're just an artifact of something in the game that never materialized (like the keys for sale in Highhold Keep from back when the devs planned to reward a bonus for camping out in an inn room).
