why no news on next expansion?Follow

why no news on next expansion? they were putting 2 a year and i know they decided to cut down to one but it's been 6 months since release and they normaly let us know a little months before the next one, some idea's that will come out?

I'm guessing it all depends on how much they currently have done, and whether or not that completed material is appropriate for release at this time. Personally, I'm on the edge of my seat, and I'm hoping it'll be something to bring people like myself (and others) back to the game!

I think we will get a lot more information once Fan Faire comes around. IIRC they had pics of the new zones one year and new models. That is the beginning of August though so maybe we will get an announcement before then, but I bet the majority of it comes from Fan Faire.

i'm hoping for more lower level content. solo-ability content to help those new. and who make new characters level up to where the major population is.

all 42 of my characters is between level 23 and 52.

i'm forced to box all of them to level up to at least 51, just to find other players who might be willing to group. but even then the 50's are getting left behind. with most 65-80 right now

so many folks leaving for other games. the grouping is getting worse.

i just reactivated one of my accounts to see ho my server is doing. on a thursday evening 6pm till 8pm POK had less then 15 players, the guild hall had 25 players.

a year ago when i was actively playing POK had no less then 100 during late night 1-3am when i got off work.

today is saturday. i'll check the pop again. to early now 7 am.

i'm just glad the boxing is not cheating or against any rules. unless affecting others game play.

i'd like to see another server merger. and see solo instances like LON dungeons but meant for solo or small groups. help the low levels level faster to be able to enjoy the game with other players like we use to years ago.

Here's a clue, Lt: There *COULD* be other reasons than level why it's difficult for you to find groups.

Unless they add a new race with a new starting area I actually hope they don't add any new content under level 65. I'd rather see them shine up the 100s of amazing zones they already have for that level range.

I say this as a player that has only broken 65 once (I like doing aa). I love alts but tend to delete them in the 25-40 range. I don't box and have no difficulty getting levels. I find once I hit 51 the need for a partner or group starts to increase (depending on class), before that not so much.

I soloed a cleric to 51 with so-so gear and about 5% of the effort it took to get my original cleric to level 34. The lowbie game is sparsely populated but not too hard.

If I rerolled on a new server with no plat I predict I could be level 50 in less than 60 hours on nearly any class. That's playing 5 hours a day for less than 2 weeks (less than the average televison watching). A really good player could do it in less than that, a multiboxer PLing could do it even faster.

Players that focus on a single character and get in a good guild (and are a good guildie) have no problem progressing to be up in the levels with the majority. Lots of players my ranger (abandoned at 51) levelled up with were level 70+ a couple of months after I stopped playing it. My new account necro main would be level 80 if I didn't enjoy diversions.

There is plenty of zones for the noobies. What is needed is content and or attractions added to the old zones to entice higher level toons to come visit these zones again. There are enough dead end caves, behind waterfalls, or even hidden doors inside cities to create new zones. Have limited drops or quest so people spend time trying to find these. In turn anytime population increases in zones is better for the games. To add a new expansion now I feel is pointless. There are places I have never been to or just ran through. But if they were to just add a zone once every two or three months like they did when they added the Warrens would bring the travel and discovery back in the game. This was what first brought me into the game was the unknown, the adventure, and the puzzles. Mental task for me is a lot better than pressing the attack button 50 times a second and play arcade style…..Give me the Adventure, the EverQUEST!!!!

SPIOLER ALERT!!!!!!!!!!!

There will be 458 NEW factions included that will require approximately 124432 missions to gain max ally with. They are all opposing, and their vendors will be KOS until you are max ally.

They will sell things that are marginally better than what you will already have.

There will be 443 threads from the bleeding-edge elite saying that the gear is too powerful for the effort.

There will be 500 (exactly 500) threads about how the game is impossible for the casual players.

There will be 6 patch days in the first week the new expansion is "live", and one a week after that.

I will still buy it and still play it.

I think the varied responces in this thread prove how difficult making new expantions is going to be for Sony.

One group wants new and retooled zones for the higher end and the raiders, one group wants lower end content for the newer players and the alts stuck in their 50s.

Balancing low, mid, and high end content has always been a chore for EQ. In respect to raiding especially, with ToFS, Grimling war, and maybe CoM as the only real lower level raiding places. Sure you can raid seb in your 50s but there really isnt much content made for 30-40 raid/groups.

The main player base is the 75+. If you have a character 70-74 you know how hard it can be to find people in your era. Without a good guild, its near impossible to group, let alone do Katta, DoD, DoN, etc missions/raids.

Whatever Sony does in the next expantion, they have their hands full.

Rumored title: Seeds of Destruction.

Likely to be high level only, like SoF was.

From what I've read from the devs on various EQ Live posts, they are well advanced in the planning for it. I think they said they wanted things like spells and AAs all in place before beta starts.

The lack of an annoucement likely has more to do with a marketing decision rather than anything to do with the current state of the expansions design.

Just curious where you heard SoD from. Since the title is already decided internally I am inclined to believe that the rumor is more akin to a leak.

And yeah, as soon as an expansion is released, work is full on for the next one so the next one as far as art and zones is most likely already done.

What I would like to see would be more epic type quests. Not necessarily class specific or only for weapons (like the old epics). Something like a very long and involved quest line for each archetype. Something that would be useful for that archetype and which was a challenge to get, so there would be a sense of accomplishment from that one item. Rather than the zone access and faction quests that seem to be the focus of recent expansions.

seeds of destruction was patented by SOE a few months ago, it was all over eqplayers, not really a leak just someone checking us patent office website. Seeds of destruction + slay plant found in sp.dat is an interesting combination...

another 6 months before the next. they said they were reducing expansions to 1 per year so they could work on ironing out bugs and work on existing content etc.

Hmmmmm dont SK and NEC's get plant only damage spells now?
