Server Populations... Out of CuriosityFollow

#1 May 09 2008 at 5:06 AM Rating: Decent
So, I've been away from EQ for a few months (have to graduate and all), and I was wondering. Would anyone happen to know where I can find the number form of Populations of each server? I'm just curious as to what server is most populated in the game now, unless of course any of you wonderful people happen to know?

Thanks!

Sony doesn't post the population numbers anymore so you'll just kinda have to go by word of mouth.

Word of mouth in this case not being very reliable.

Things are slowing down a lot it seems but there is still an influx of new folks on povar.

Yeah I remember the server numbers that it would show before they changed the UI way back when. I wish you could still see them =\

I don't think they ever showed the numbers, did they? All I remember them showing was either a green 'Up', or red 'Down' for server status.

Yeah way back when with the old grey and tan UI they'd show numbers next to the server status

Sony pulled server population numbers in September 2001, presumably because their first real competition, Dark age of Camelot, was launching in October and Sony didn't want to give their rivals any free demographic information (nor subscribers a reason to say EQ was 'dying').

When I returned just over a year ago from a break I just logged into a bunch of servers during my prime time. I looked for the following:

-more than 10 in tutorial
-more than 200 traders in baz
-more than 50 in PoK (that was just before the lobby buff change, now I would look there).

My old server failed all of these, and old friends and guildtags were not to be found. Bristlebane exceeded the criteria very well.

If I was ever server shopping again (and not moving a character) I would also check out the common levelling trail --right now that seems to be TSS zones and hotzones.

I always recommend Bristlebane because I really like it, and if all the people that ask about healthy servers come here...

Stromm has a good rep as well. Hope this helps, and welcome back!

Its always annoyed me how tight lipped they are not just on server populations but everything.

Do they still list lowest to highest population?

By this criteria, Tunare (E'ci) is also a very healthy server. Having just recently brought a toon from 1 to 45, I never had to look long to get a group. Past 65 it is downright EASY to get a group.

As a side note: the EASIEST and FASTEST way to get a group is "I'm going to [xxx] to do [xxx]! Who wants to join me?" Almost never fails.

AB is holding up very well.

Much better activity than Stromm (server i transferred from). i have been able to get a group with any level toon so far :D
