Ok, Soe has ramped up the AA rate for low aa'ed people.

They have smoothed out the XP rate pretty much up to 65.

They have unlocked raid zones up to PoR i believe.

A dev was even quoted as saying this is all part of a "Plan".

So, what is SoE up to, and what speculation can we throw here on the next expansion.

Additionally, do you think, or hope, or just pray, that they are trying to get people to come back into the game and does anyone have any ideas on what they have planned to accomplish this.

Note: I do not want anyone coming into this thread posting stuff they know is covered by an NDA. I want logical and thoughtful posts on what, if anything, they are doing to rekindle the low end game and bring people back.

Short of Logical and thoughtful, Rumors are acceptable, but only when provided in context of how it applies to the expansion, and SoE's plans.

My hope/theory is this.

The Muramites are invading Norrath(implied by the current events)

Seeds of Destruction(rumored name of expansion) will include the following:

New race, one of the ones from GoD or OoW. This will be tied to a new path to level from 1 to 65/75, ala Cresent Reach through GkM.

They will also add a clearer level of gear progression through the 55 to 70 level range(filling the gap between 50 HP/Mana, and 150 HP/Mana)

They may even just create an entire path from low level gear all the way to the end of the expansion for groupers, and raiders.

Possible a new class, but doubtful. More likely the new race will be limited to the classes that seem to be most needed/least common in the game.

Player housing(more hope than theory)

We are pretty much assured they will increase the level cap will be 85, and about 1000 more AA's, due to this i expect the XP gain in the lower levels to be ramped up, as well as the drop rate for parts needed for armor at the lower levels to be increased. The sliding scale on AA's will drift up to abour 1250.

Biggest hope, New server, or a funneling server that will group newbs together so they have a better chance of finding a group and staying until they hit higher levels, and possibly allowing people to have an account for 60 levels on one toon(or a combined total of 120 levels across multiple toons) or 90 days, whatever comes first.

And last but not least, probably a total pipe dream, they will Advertise this as the Golden age of Everquest.

Your thoughts?

I like your thoughts Kasandra.

I wouldn't be surprised to see the Nokk Ogres make a return --and I'd expect them to dance with the lore so they co-habitat Crescent Reach and/or Oggok.

I would be extremely surprised to see a full progression from 1-75 (but I'm not against the idea). They could graft some lowbie zone(s) onto the misnamed continent of Gates (check the in-game atlas!) covering 1-30 and revamp Nedaria's landing as a new hub (see below) and keep it as a 30-40 zone. Then they would just add the 65+ stuff and be set.

I would like to see them congregate the stale content access points into a new hub (aka a Wayfarer's Lodge in Nedaria) so all the monster missions, Ldons and such are accessed from the one zone (mulitiple floors in the lodge for each type of content could work).

If you really want a golden age Replace the Pok Books with translocators and firepots that make more RPG sense... and don't overlap exactly with the porting classes (druids and wizards should take you to the safe, convienent spot). I am not saying make travelling all running or more running, I just want a more immersive PoK mechanism than PoK is.

Put baz and guild lobby off this new hub too. Let the invading Muramites have PoK (make it a combat zone with mad aggro and pathing) and put the vendors into the cities they should have been in... improve all the home city vendors and add in NPC mass buffs only in the home cities... make original EQ factions matter again for the content. If you are running with the Indigo brotherhood it should matter in the grand scheme of things.

Revisit some of the long-standing class/race/deity combos that make sense but are not possible (Erudite Wizard of Cazic Thule?) and give everyone 10 character slots on a server.

Create a new server with no moves for 6 months.
Create a normal-rule server with only one character slot.

That's off the top of my head.

Shadowknights will get an answer to slay undead finally, SLAY PLANT!?!! Oh, and paladins are getting AE agro btw. A lot of old unused spells are being made into AAs, sks finally get a no damage snare (hello fast snare split CoH pulling) That's all the rumors I've read on egn and eqplayers.

I'd be so sick of that plant business if i was a necro/sk...

...the undead pigeonhole as a pally can be a little frustrating at times, and I can't even imagine how it would be for SK's if they end up leaning as hard on their potential "slay" as much as we do ours.

I love this idea. This is a truly phenominal concept. Can you imagine the reactions on the first day this went live???

As for factions, I would like to see more TITLES that could be gained via factioning. Along the same lines as "Of the Freeport Militia" faction title. It would cost the devs close to nothing, and would be an extra carrot at the end of the stick for everyone caught up in the endless, monotonous, repetative, unending, mind-numbing, boring, wrist-slitting, eternal faction grinds.

Can you tell I hate faction grinding? Gimme something stupid for it, at least.

I'll be surprised if they don't introduce a WoW-style 'rest bonus', which (for the two or three that haven't played WoW) means that the longer you rest in a secure place (like an inn), the longer you get a bonus to the xp you earn, up to about 1.5 levels I believe. Once you reach that mark, your xp gain reverts to normal.

If this bonus could only be gained in your home city, people would have to start traveling a bit again!

That style of XP bonus actually exists in EQ2 and applies to both adventure and tradeskilling.

Ah, these idea-ridden threads are my absolute favorite kind.

Kassandra, Snailish, nomnom, I agree totally with you all.

Kassandra gets my vote as most want-to-come-true post.

I think the single most interesting idea was the suggested changes to the Pok, and adjacent guild lobby / bazaar. Technically, the bazaar is located on Luclin. I always thought it should be accessed through Shadowhaven and the Nexus only. I've talked several times, along with many others, about how the Pok has emptied the starting cities, so I won't go into it again here.

And the idea about titles that reflect your faction standing - I never would have thought about that. Should have been implemented in the Luclin era.

SOE does understand this kind of stuff would ramp up server populations and add revenue, right? I'm certainly no game designer, but they have to be aware this is what folks have been taking about for awhile. I always follow threads like these closely, and while good (new) ideas are kinda rare, the good ones tend to be remembered and repeated. I'm sensing a pattern here. I just hope SOE is too.

Lots of cool ideas. Make sure you bring them up in the developers forums on the EQ website. I would guess they read Alla's, but you never know.

I wish they would do something with all those unused doors in the Guild Hall.

For the unguilded players, put something like the guild port system in the PoK. I know, I know, would probably be more appropriate in the guild lobby, but I would prefer it in the PoK along with the portal stones. To counter the utility this takes away from wizards and druids, I would give them port spells that takes players further into an expansions content. You can get to the major hub of any expansion from guild/pok ports, but will have to run your rear off or get a port from your friendly neighborhood druid or wizzy to get further into the zones for that expansion.

If sks get a real slay plant and it's as overpowered as pally slay undead (that devs admit is overpowered but won't change because it's been in the game like that too long (even though spells weren't linked for 9 years(and pally slays limit the amount of damage that sk / pally 2 handers can do a lot like backstab does for 1 hand peircers(parenthetical statements inside parenthetical statements rock)))) it won't be too bad for sks since druids can turn mobs into plants with skin to vines / skin to mulch.
