If you have premium, upload it to Alla's and use the "[img=whatever]" tags. Otherwise, upload it to like Photobucket or something, and just link it.

Most recent I have...

Back when I was on leave and could have facial hair. Also while we're discussing me, I'm no longer a senior airman (SrA) in fact I haven't been one in 3 years. It's staff sergeant (SSGt) but I'm unsure if I can change my name or not /shrug. I suppose just keats will do since that's what 93% of people that know me call me anyway.

The admins are pretty easy going on name changes. Just send a request to one of them if you want it changed.

Speaking of admins....what's it gonna take for Railus to post a pic? (I've seen pictures of Kao, Pikko, Dana, DF...even Alla)

Grovers, your daughter is absolutely beautiful. Just you wait til she's 16. Smiley: wink

Yen, is that a medal you're sportin' in the second pic?

/scratches head

Olympics? Or worlds?

The gold medalists in SLC Olympics in 2 man and 4 man are 6 different people.

Easy Rundle...it was from the America's Cup. IF you know about bobsled, you would realize that every year there are two tours of "world class" bobsledding. The America's cup, and the World cup.

Salt Lake, actually Park City, holds races for both. For America's cup, there are 2 two man races, and 2 four man races. I won the gold in the first 2 man race, the guy on the left won the gold in the second 2 man race. Together we ( with another push athlete ) won 1 of the 2 four man races.

Now, to educate you even more. Typically it is not 6 different people for the two races, but 4 guys compete as a team, with a driver and 3 push athletes. The driver obviously does both, and one guy pushes 2 man with him, then joins the other two for four man.

Also, Park City has held the Olympics ( as you said ) but it has never held a World Championship. ( Like you said it did )

Your right, one should only bask in ones "real" achievements. But also, one should not cast doubt about another achievements unless they have a clue as to what they are talking about.Smiley: dubious

Ok, back to the thread itself...Bbot, that was cool when I clicked the top link and it said " you are entering Austrian territory. Havent been there in awhile Smiley: wink

Guess I should have been more clear on what I was talking about. I didn't want to make the assumption that you were one of the gold medal winners from Germany if you weren't. Did I think you were misrepresenting yourself? No. Was there confusion? Yes. I'm sorry if I offended you as that was not my intent. I really just wanted to know what you had won so I could say GRATZ!!!

In regards to bobsled I don't need that much more education. One of the stops on The America's cup is at Olympic Park in Calgary where I too have flown down that same icy track. It was 20 some years ago now just prior to the Olympics. I think we were the test dummies. (Yes, I'll let you feed on the 'dummies' portion of that. :D ) Having grown up in the mountains to the west (Banff specifically) and enjoying all the speed aspects of other mountain sports, bobsled and luge (yeah, I was dumb enough to try this too) were natural progressions. Was I anywhere near world class levels? Hell no. Not even close.

With a bit of reading I've learned that I was wrong about one thing. I was under the belief that The America's Cup races contributed to the World Cup points / standings. But they appear to be two distinct events. That's why I only asked Olympics or Worlds.

As for team, yes, often the same 4 create both teams with 1 or 2 alternates. But it’s not uncommon either. As in the case that I pointed out, i6 different Germans were used to comprise the 2 and 4 man teams at the 2002 SLC games. Of course to pull this off drivers are the key, especially good drivers. So to actually have two! Well, credit the Germans on that front. :) I never tried driving as my value was in my ability to push. I credit my track, hockey and rugby development of lower leg strength for that.

Bottom line is.... congratulations on your achievements. It's no small feat winning any bobsled event never mind a world class level event. I meant no disrespect nor did I mean to diminish your accomplishment.

Opps.. forgot to add this:

While it's true that the Championship is not held at Park City they do host one of the World Cup events. But I don't follow it close enough to know if they hand out individual event medals or not. Skiing parallels bobsled in it's event design and in all the World Cup downhill events I've been associated with, they do have a medal ceremony for each race. So it's not unreasonable to assume that you could have been at a World Cup event at Park City, won the event and got a gold medal (two in fact).

Rundle;
Thanks for the reply. I apologize for misinterpreting what you said. I have been down the track in Calgary more than any other track. Pushed in the Worlds there in 1996/ ( not sure if that was the year ) and my first crash was there in 1994.Smiley: grin

Love that track, and the Canadians under Pierre Lueders have been the top dogs for so many years.

I too did not want anything to do with driving, its bad enough in the back. Plus, being a sprinter in college ( 10.18 100m ) I was just better at pushing ( won 3 golds in the World Push Championships)

And the World Cup leads to a World Championship every year, so Park City has not ever held the Championships, but did hold one of the World cup events. And Americas Cup does count for the World Cup points, especially in regrard to how many sleds one gets to compete on the World Cup.

The Germans do not use 6 man teams. They actually have have one driver ( Germany I), who does both 2 and 4 man. And he uses 4 guys, rotating them between the two. ( This he did in 2002) And for the other two teams, one driver does 2 man, the other does 4 man, but they still use only 3 pushers.

I actually raced against the 2 Germans in Park City in 2001. We outpushed Lange, and lost by .001 to Langan. Then they came back in 2002 to win the 2 man and 4 man.Smiley: disappointed

By the way, every time one rides in the back you feel like a "dummy".

Again, thanks for the reply and sorry I got my dander up. Nice to hear from a "fellow" pusher. Smiley: bowdown
