heh...I bought 4 copies for my accounts have yet to step foot in any of the zones.

Sad I was so excited to check them out. But then on the plus side with most folk hunting there all of the old spot in older expaqntions are wide open.

I could have sworn I had responded to this already, but it could have been one on TBS. Anyway, I really like this expansion. "They" did a good job with designing the content so that there is a fair amount of groupable, or solo encounters. I also like the story line. LOL. I really hated that little sob when I had to keel him for the old ranger armor quests. Ooops, guess I should have mentioned I was talking bout Meldrath.

I'll probably do with it what I did with TBS...finally buy it about the time the rumor mill is starting up about the next expansion.

I've spent little time in it.

The animals are not snareable/rootable! That's tough for a drood to accomodate for. But, I've found some gobbies and nymph types that were soloable.

I'd like to get some groupage going for some of the more involved zones. I'm curious to climb inside the giant wandering robot. I guess I gotta log into the game first though.

I have never even been to one of the zones although I do own the expansion. To be honest, I don't know many people who have.

Have you tried the Loping Plains? - http://eqbeastiary.allakhazam.com/search.shtml?zone=529 - I know that at least the restless alligators do not summon and are snareable. I know some druids who have been packing the AAs away in that zone.

Not a druid, but ya, I have earned well over a hundred AAs in this zone on both my Ranger and Cleric. The Drangol Gobbies, and the Shadowmanes are very good camps, with a named that pops often enough in each, that is duo'able.

I voted "met my expectations" because I am always 1-2 expansions or more behind the 'bleeding edge' of the end-gamers... I solo a lot so I really haven't started in SoF yet. I DO like the Heroic Stats tho - I was already maxxed with cultural gear so this gives me something to upgrade to now.

Great if you like sitting at the same camp for months on end getting faction. Not so good if you are less than OOW geared and have atleast your 2.0 if you are a melee type,as the mobs have tons of hp's.

Seen alot of necro's soloing the goblin camp in Loping.Very effectivly at that.

sof is awesome for druids, if your over 75 ( my druid is 80 )

In Loping you have bears, frogs, worgs that are snareable and kitable, and are animals. Also the trees and orcs are kitable. In hills of shade the crows are snareable and kitable. Also the mushrooms in the southeast, although those are level 80+ and hard to pull, a bit too tough for it to be worthwhile.

True, many mobs in dragonscale are not kitable. I think the snakes are, and i know the golumns and oozes are, although those are damn tough, tons of hp.

The game is out of control. Shortest way to put it is they want everyone to look at it before they flush it

You might have a valid point, but I dont see it without more info. What makes you think the game is out of control? Is it the higher level cap than what we started with? Is it the equipment that seems to have more stats on it than my main started with several years ago (just seems that way, not actually true)? What makes you think they are going to flush it? Info please. Not trying to flame you, if thats the impression you get. Just trying to get you to expand on your opinion.

There's always going to be the guy who tries to be the guy on the street corner with a sign that says "Da Ind Is Neer" about EQ yet still plays it. There's really no sense in arguing back.

I expected it'd be another hastily thrown-together expansion. Haven't set foot in any of the zones. My cleric is loving the attuneable gear, despite the fact that I hate it. I swear she has stuff that's better than Time gear, that I bought for less than 10k platinum...

Im an 80 druid and soloing is great in SoF. I first started with gators/worgs in loping. Then did a lil soloing in Hills of Shade. But now I usually just solo in gyrospire zeka. Almost always noone thereso plenty to kill and I got my Ironwood Rk II there so Im happy. But on a down note I do have to say the factioning for some of your spells blows.

Raiding high end, I was disappointed with the expansion. Getting flagged was really the only "hard" part of the expansion.

I didn't purchase the expansion for a few reasons. In past years I have bought downloaded versions of expansions, and was annoyed as to how long it took me to download updates when i switched computers, due to not having the disks. Second I have purchased most of my expansions individually except the first 5 and I got annoyed when I was able to buy my daughter everything I had purchased individually for 29.99 each, I was now able to buy for her, for 19.99 in a bulk pack. This time everything i had plus SOF for 39.99 download only was beyond annoying. I had no use for the other expansions I already owned, and paying 39.99 for one expansion seemed like highway robbery to me. Therefore I went without it. Sooner or later Sony will put out another expansion pack that has 2 or 3 expansions I dont already own, and then I might purchase it. If they had come out with just the SOF expansion for those of us that already owned everything else for say 19.99 or even 29.99 I would have been okay, that is a price I am used to paying, but to force me to pay for expansions that I already have, is not happening here. They still could of put out the bulk expansion to get some new players involved, but to burn the veterans is just wrong....

The good part of SoF expansion for those coming back to the game, for $40 they get to catch all the back expansions which is a good thing. I would have liked it to be cheaper for those who already had all the expansions.

there is a fairly large step in terms of hp/mana and effects from the groupable gear. This helps casual players narrow the gap to the raiders, who have been moaning about their gear getting replaced with 'group gear'.

The biggest pita IMHO is the huge time sinks.

#1. Rare mobs spawns, not uncommon to go 2-4 hrs and not see a single named.
#2. Way to many factions, and some have very limited set of mobs , quests to choose from. Spending 3 weeks in HoS working valor ?
#3. Lag spikes are incredibly bad, seems like new zones have big 3 second spike every 2 min or so.

I am one of the returning players who loved the $40 version taht got me caught up on all the expantions. Had I been a current player at the time I would have hated it.

SoF has some really nice features and some that need improvement.
*I enjoy seeing the old continent, if only for the time that I run through to Loping Planes. Nice to see some of the lore linked back to the old content.

*The multiple factions are fun because they give it a sence of depth, and annoying because almost every camp has a different faction.

*Getting keyed for cryst and such can be a huge investment. If you are like our server there aren't many people willing to help with that kind of stuff.

I think most can agree that the lag is out of control. I run programs that are bigger resource hogs and I dont see that kind of low performence.

Too much Crappy faction work that you have to repeat the same quests over and over and over again

Otherwise nice equipment good monsters and some Mean Raid Targets.

At least they decreased the horrendous raid repop rate in the buildings etc.

I like the story line, and like someone else said, I hated that little SOB Meldrath. I have only been to the expansion one time though. I took my lvl 67 Mage there, and wiped on the first pull, which was really only a test pull to see what kind of damage the mobs were putting out. They killed my lvl 66 Air pet and stomped me before I could even get my gate spell off. This was enough for me to decide to wait a bit before going back. The zones looked good though, and I love the gear I'm seeing for sale in bazaar.

Initially, I was thinking in the exact same way that you are. Having to pay 40 bucks to get a bunch of stuff that I've already had didn't seem right. But then I had the idea to just for the heck of it do what I used to do prior to this DL only expansion crap and go to Best Buy (or whatever gaming store of your choosing) and hope that maybe they suddenly wisened back up. To my surprie, they actually did regain some stock in my mind again. There it was. SoF expansion pack... and for oddly enough, the very same "$29.99" that you had mentioned.

So there you go. Call up your local gaming store/s to find out if it is in stock. Then simply go buy it up and install. Enjoy

(Sorry for blabbing and not just getting to the point. It's just my nature)
