Might be a collector's fish that's obtained by fishing in Plane of Tranquility. Many, many people spent many hours just sitting at the beach fishing, I can see them doing this as part of the event. I'm not in game atm so I can't try. :(

Hmm not sure, thats the text I get from him after I've completed the quest and re hail him, guessing somehow your account got bugged to flag it as completeing the task and thats why hes telling you that? try petitioning and see what they say, I know a couple ppl in my guild are bugged with that same thing, maybe if enough petition it saying its bugged they'll fix the problem b4 the anniversary ends =)

Thank you for the excellent info Kalena, I plan on doing this quest this year. As a non-porting class, I could always use another way of saving a gate potion.
But does the recast timer on this seem odd to anyone else? For buying an expansion, I got the ability to port to Creasent Reach every 1:12 minutes, but for putting in a bit of effort I get an item that can port me once a day? I would hope they would reevaluate the timer on this and lower it a bit so I might be able to make better use of it. Even once every 4 hours would be better without being over-powering.

It's a great item for sure. It already gives nearly the same ability as the 8th year veteran reward, assuming most people are bound in PoK or the guild lobby. That's close to the same timer and I think there would be a pretty big uproar if they made this quest on a better timer than that.

Sounds like you didn't give him everything he wanted. In previous years there have been 'red herrings' thrown in. Non 'collector's version' of the same drop. Not sure if there's a way to figure out what you've given him and what you might not have though??
You misunderstood him, I believe. My husband got this same reply on initial hail on Sunday. He had done nothing with the quest, we logged on, found the NPC and hailed. I got the bag, he got this bugged reply.
I vaguely remember previous years' being bugged similarly, but don't recall any fix or if the GMs did anything. Does anyone that had this bug get a fix, or if you petitioned did you get a bag?
The bug is being discussed on EQLive and the developer is activly working on it. In his latest post he has said it's all fixed and good to go.
