HeadshotFollow

Alright. If I remember correctly, until recent expansions, there was only one tier of Headshot that could be trained in, correct? My question is: I'm going to assume it's dexterity that affects your chance to land a headshot. I'm currently using (I believe?) a Stonewood on my Ranger. I have gotten like 3 headshots in about 4 months... and I do a lot of killing in Acrylia (the entrance mobs, I can headshot at 65, I do believe), and even decided to run through Neriak and kill all of the guards one day, out of boredom. I got 1 headshot after about 3 clearings of Neriak.

I know the Stonewood is a bloody slow bow, but shouldn't I, with 285 unbuffed Dex, be landing headshots a bit more often than that?

Good discussion of head shot here:

https://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/classes.html?class=10;mid=118514757429550446;num=8;page=1

(The old class thread for rangers).

I remember reading somewhere else to have a fast bow for headshotting and a slow delay hard-hitting bow for _______________ (name escaping me... but the aa you use when you want to pile damage on a named/raid mob).

Hope this helps.

I think it's a proc based AA, so things that improve proc rate, like Weapon Affinity, Combat Effects, etc. should improve it.

I could be completely wrong, but it appears that way to me. I didn't get many procs till I bought all the Weapon Affinity AAs .. it goes off all the time now. More shots help also, like Trick Shot and the Hail of Arrows line of spells.

Yther Ore.

Hmmm, not real sure. I have a 62 Ranger that hunts in AC and if I root a mob and begin /autofire.... I will usually get a headshot kill before it dies from my arrows alone. I dont have maxed anything other than STR and as far as AA's go, the only offensive AA ones I have are EQ and AM3.

I use a Steamwork (something like that) that has pretty good dmg-dly ratio. I would say it is just like crits. The more swings you get, the more crits you will have. It's probably the same thing with the bow. So, I would try a lower delay bow and see if it improves.
