Twinking a BstFollow

#1 Mar 13 2008 at 9:37 AM Rating: Decent
Ok, because i'm a TOTAL twink ***** :)

I need some ideas for items to twink my new lil beasty out. I wanna buy gear that will last a few levels so i wont have to keep going out and rebuying new gear. Does anyone have any suggestions?

What level are you?

For the low levels, you really only need an okay weapon imho.

I tend to view TEMP and other buffs I can get as my "twink armor."

I just need good weapons so I can kill something that runs low on health, because...

...it's no longer hitting my other twink things, my skinspike Damage Shield.

I also twink out my pet w/ summoned armor, Temp, the haste mask, and proccing weapons (hand of ixblat works, iirc, even on bst pets - the proc does, I think - maybe someone can help me w/ this - cuz bst pets are a little different).

Oh and the summoned prime belt for HP for pets - shroud before logging to preserve a nice twinked pet.

(OH, want a really nice free club? Get a sow and invis pot and drive your bst alt to Maiden's Eye (nethurbian to DSP to ME) - and park him near zone. Have your lvl 70 murder the cavement there until the no trade club drops - pull close to zone. Log in the bst and log the club. It's a 12/23 club w/ stats, very nice. Goranga spiked club.

Here's the thing, when you're leveling up, why waste time and money on a buncha armor you don't need? Temp and healing pots and ss pots are really all you need.

Yes, you reach a point in the 40s or 50s where you need armor, especially if you solo. Are you that high yet?

I started my ogre beast with a crystaline spider fang, chrystal chitin handwraps,
Firekeepers tunic, cougar claw earring, griffon earring,Batfang headress. Since fables are coming back, try running to the maze to get the wrist drop from fabled evil eye. (DOt damge bonus or extension) That is if you have an alt that can farm some of the fabled stuff. Going to TSS zones or pok armor is another good way to twink and get exp.

Take a look at the new jewlery wich wasnt around when I started the beast.
I bouhgt a pale platinum mace for him when he went to dual wield.

That spider fang is a good weapon.

If you're rich - if you have the time - his list of gear is quite good.

But all you really need for the lower levels is:

TEMP on you and pet
Skin Spikes
Pet toys
Maybe some healing potions

And like I said, one decent weapon for runners. I've lvled a bst w/ pretty much just the above and some crappy armor - did great. Got bored w/ it and went back to casters (I'm better w/ pure casters). Until the 40s or 50s you really don't need to invest much in gear. (edit, admitedly you'll level faster w/ better gear, but not by much)

There are lots of undead in Ro (new hotzone, north and south) that don't run - do one point of damage and you got the exp as they shred themselves on your DS. The main hassle here is that they put rabies on you, and you don't get cure dis for some time (if at all).

Sol A is runner-city - you'll want to be in a group there. With a snarer. Unless you pull way, way back to zone lines.

Acrylia armor best non rec level piercer h2h 1hb you can find. You can work on the james the watch maker quests to fill head gloves back slots levels seem to go by collecting the gears, then silverwing items for the rest. Look to the old and new hotzone for nice augments. With PoP going fable, may be able to buy the leather ornate patterns for a decent price once you hit 46 and get into PoT.

Have Fun !

That has been the trend. Each anniversary would mean new fables + all of the old ones.

To get a set of foci, which is indeed helpful for BST toons, at lvl 25 you can wear the Rough energeiac leather armor. A set of 8 pcs are very very cheap to make and are under 170 or so tailoring skill, so a lot of ppl can make it for you if you dont do tailoring. You will get extended range and mana pres and spell haste and a couple more I think with all 8 pieces. Its not bad stuff at all for lvl 25-30 range, and there is an upgrade at 45 and 55 with sunshard pebbles and sunshard ores.

Sunshard dust is the only 'drop' component to make the Rough line, and it takes 1-3 dust per armor piece so 20 dust should do the job. It's usually 5p each in bazaar or something like that. The rest of the components are from the same vendor in barren sea and are 1-3p each. One downside is that you will also need 170 or so in Jewelcraft to make the iron conduits which look like threads when you combine a dust with a iron brick thing. Jewelcraft is also used for the 2nd combine. Iron Conduit Shirt, for example.

You most likely wont see any of this armor for sale in bazaar because its not really a money maker so its not worth the time to make or trader bag space to stock all the pieces. You could set up a /buyer for it if you dont know any tailors. Tradeskillers browse the /buyer market to unload stocks of completed items at prices higher than normal vendors.

If you cant wait until 25, then hit cresent reach newbie area and pound out the gnolls and undead there. They drop the Worn Scattercloud armor line that fit lvl 18 and up. Its much much worse armor than the Rough Energeiac line though with no foci and hit/miss if you get leather vrs the other 3 type drops. This stuff you may actually find in bazaar.

Other than these 2 lines, the rest of BL stuff is misc pieces from odd named around the planet.

Maybe Maybe hit up Sirens Grotto for Netted Kelp.

Oh another thing, the Dull energeiac line of wpns is also decent for a youngster. Made from similar components at same vendor in Barren Sea.

SG- that reminds me - the spined seahorse hide belt, or spiked?

It's got a 34% haste on it and isn't that hard to get, if you have a 70+.

Just go to Siren's Grotto and kill all the sea horses and swordfish you see. Takes over 20 min to respawn iirc, so it gets boring. But you want to pop Fellhide, the little named seahorse.

He drops the haste belt quite often (but not always). Old posts on him are not current - he used to spawn in only one place it seems, but now he can spawn in many places - prolly anywhere a normal seahorse or swordfish can spawn. Most seem to be in the water at the zone-in from Cobalt Scar. GL!

True, the belt is not so rare of a drop either and Fellspine does pop with some regularity. The problem is that it is not BL wearable.
