This is a great thread; I'm happy that many of the posters here are interested in races that I've been wanting to see as player-playable for years;
a. Shissar - I've lost count of how many folks want to see one of these as a player race. An interesting history of tragedy and sacrifice. Oh, and their penchant for kicking the @sses of silly adventurers doesn't hurt.
b. Centaur - should have been introduced as a player race in '99. what is SOE waiting for? They could have innate run speed that might improve with level, but could not use mounts. They'd have some equipment restrictions, due to their shape, but would be talented in crafting centaur-usable items to compensate. They'd make great druids, rangers, warriors, beastlords, and perhaps shamen.
c. Aviak - everyone loves them it seems - they'd be great enchanters, druids, beastlords, rogues, and even shamen.
d. Sarnak - Admit it...this is what people really thought of when they first heard about the "Drakkin." They would be at war with the Iksar (i.e major faction issues), and like same, call Kunark home.
e. Nokk - scary, cool, deadly, and with a rich history (rich with violence?) and culture.
Some of you had some really great ideas I had never thought of;
a. An underwater race that needs "air breathing" to survive above water. This one is crying out for a closer look. This guy I gamed with waaay back like 25 years ago played a "scrag" (a marine troll) in the campaign. Although the group fell apart, I loved how he could breathe underwater + regenerate. Too cool. But very ugly.
b. New races as beastlords - with race-appropriate pets (loved the gnome/clockwork warder, lol)
And one idea of my own; IMO it would not hurt to have an insectoid race. Dungeons and Dragons has the Thri-kreen (kind've like a humanoid praying mantis), and I was in a game where a guy played a Formian - a man-sized, termite like creature. It ruled. But, alas, the bug was eventually killed... I also wondered why the idea of Drachnids has never been touched. In Dungeons & Dragons, (look out - geek alert!) dark elves that fail to live up to Lolth's expectations are polymorphed into driders (Drachnids). Just thought someone besides me loves the idea of playing (and looks of) those things.
Anyway, neat thread!
