My forum search turned up nothing so I will make this post:
Being a typically unobservant guy this morning I noticed an "upgrade textures" button at the bottom of my Launchpad screen for EQ. It is an irreversable 600 MB download. I am trying to discover more detailed information about it before I push that--shiny-- button.

LOL OK I went to another site and found an answer, which I will share here:
"It gives the old world zones (Original*, Kunark*, and Velious*) zones Luclin era textures. It doesn't help performance at all, but does make the zones look a little bit better, imo. "
