the politics of overcrowded zonesFollow

I have noticed another form of this rude behavior. In Loping Plains, there are several camps that spawn "named" mobs. Group A is as one camp, my group is at another. Group A will periodically check to see if our camp has a named up. If "our" named pops, and we dont pull right away, they will pull. What makes this worse, is they will not single pull. They will also pull right over our group. We managed to handle the 3 adds, but it wasnt right. We sent a tell to a few in the other group, and the reply back was that there are no camps in EQ, so live with it.

Rude behavior has become the norm in this game, and its sad. For instance, I remember sitting at the entrance to the Tunnel in EC, medding, putting away my book, and finding that I had been buffed while I was sitting. How nice. I would then /ooc a thanks to whoever had buffed me. Now, peeps ask for buff as if they cant do without them, and dont even bother to ask nicely. They will walk up to you, no matter what your status (naked, and in the process of corpse recovery), and basically demand buffs. If you mention that you have no mana, because of your current naked status, you get told off sometimes. Rude. I once was on my way through the GL on my way to the GH, when someone sent me a tell "I need SoE". It was just before I hit the GH door. When I zoned in, I gont another tell, "Where the f**k did you go, I told you I needed a SoE, a**hat!" I promply put him on ignore.

The camp problem, is just one aspect of a larger problem.

I think the problem is WoW'ers who heard that EQ was much better...this is the kind of behavior that is encouraged in WoW. I remember a time when rude people didn't get to lvl because no one would group with them; now they just find other rude people to group with.

" assumed that meant that no one was "camping" them "

Yep, better to communicate in all cases.

Some times there is no solution but to share spawns or 'surrender' your claim on all the mobs. Darkroots in Direwind come to mind.

There are only a couple spots for a group to pull to in the caves and the entire cave system is just about maxed out with 2 groups in there.

Since the Darkroots are for the Exalted Symbol quest, and since it requires killing hundreds of darkroots, ppl are going to be contesting the spawns, especially the shaman spawns.

I was 3-boxing bard-cleric-mage in there on THREE different occasions when a group pops in, sets up DIRECTLY in front of me, and 'graciously' proceeds to continue my clear-cycle as the mobs keep respawning in order. I'm like HEY!!!! WHATS UP WITH THAT!!!!.

Granted, my clear-cycle included a 'continuous' respawn as you mention so I wouldnt have any down time. Often this was built in Un-intentionally when I had to kill Deathshed or Vinelord Molder and they took longer to kill than the scrappy Darkroot. Does this mean that the groups can set up smack dab in front of me and pull the 2-3 remaining Darkroots that I have re-spawned in sequential order?

Well, most players would say no, some would say yes. SONY says yes. Server politics vary and courtesy says no.

In this case, exp and loots are nothing but a side thing, since you have to get the quest kill msg and the 'impression'. Once those are done, nobody hangs around the caves anymore.

I pride myself on my politeness in game. Whenever I come into a zone I greet the zone and do a camp check.

I am in a zone with my mid-sixies ranger do a camp check get no response and pull a mob. A higher level mage (mid-seventies) grabs argo and preceeds to kill the mob. I ask him why and he tells me he is camped there. Mind you that I pulled the Mob from a a third of the zone away and was moving the mob to an area away from his camp when he did this. I explained this to him and went and got another. He repeated the same action. He again says that he is camping the area and 'anything he sees' is his and has a 'right' to take.

I am thinking hmmm.....this just seems to be rude and maybe I should look at things a little differently.

So I logged on my main and proceeded to help him with his pulls. I let him 'see' about 30 mobs all at the same time and let him have all the argo he wanted (fading memories let you do that;-). I guess he fd'ed but did not seem to get up for a very long time and I did not know mages could gate from the fetal position but, he did. Must be some type of special AA they have.

When he returned, I again helped him with his pulls and he again did the long fd and gate from the fetal position. When he returned for the third time, the above actions were repeated again with the same results only this time he did not return. Guess I lost the opportunity to gain a friend (sigh).

Moral of the story: it never hurts to be polite, but it can hurt to be rude.

ya know server Zek doesnt have this problem, usually most disputes are solved when someone dies. lol, so if you have rude ppl challenge them to a duel to settle the problem :)

My idea of fun play time is not to waste it in a dispute and not to waste it in a dual trying to kill the other person who disagrees with me. Why cater to the player who only thinks that might makes right and that he can bully or cheat his way into 'winning'. Challenging them to a dual is exactly what they want, and I am not going to bow down to their level.

I just avoid those ppl, (and Zek,) like the plague because I wont get dragged into that sillyness and waste of time posturing for control of something. I see ppl like that on 'COPS' episodes who use foul language, threat of violence, and bullying and force to intimidate others and to get their own way. Its quite often just pride or power/control that motivates those ppl... "Officer, you dissin me? Dont you evva dis me!"......(when he has a knee across his neck while being handcuffed face down on the pavement)

I teach at Fresno State and if anybody does that here, they get academic discipline/sanctions possibly including expulsion from campus. Its just not tolerated. Its just goodbye dont come back, you are not going to drag us into that. Thats not what's done here.

Fun is when ppl cooperate and succeed at something together. Being the best means doing something great. Something to celebrate. It doesnt mean that you can pound others into submission, despite what professional wrestling would have you to believe. That is just gloating over the misery you cause others.
