So did they swing the nerf-bat at the hg's in rathe mtns? I went there the other night solely to round up some pocket change (funds very low, lol )and them hg's dropped almost nothing. Yeah I ran the gauntlet, killing the skellies and the lizardmen like your supposed to to get the big money.

Noting they were dropping nil, I tramped over to North/South Ro and went after the Sand giants. They, for the most part, dropped decent plats, but their spawn rate was waaay to slow in comparison to the rathe giants. Odd.

So basically my point is...did they change the giants? If so, then where can one go to pick up some pocket change? there was a discussion in the bazaar the other night about who the richest player on the server was. It was said that the richest player had upwards of 15 million or something. Now, I have played eq for a long time, and the most I ever had at one time was 150k. HOW are people amassing so much fundage?

Is there some place I can go that i can either farm the plat or farm for decent selling loots? Bare in mind, that currently I have only upto DoDh...

High end tradeskiling has the potential to make money. Selling high end tradeskill drops does as well but you need to be near max level (80) to farm the high priced drops. You can also buy 15 million platinum for exactly $984.38 currently.

I will go check the giants on Tunare and post my results. It seems odd since HGs have been in the game since 1999 and have always been rich.

I was in rathe mtns for maybe 3 hours. Some hg's I looted did have 20-40 plat on them, even after runnig the gauntlet and keeping things dead like your supposed to. Average take in was 4 to 5 gold, some had 2-3 plat and fine steel weps.

With my beast, back in the day I could easy rake in 3-4k in an hour, if I was in the zone by myself, once I got the cycle working. The other night i made less than half that in 3 hours. Really kind of angered me, then it depressed me and made me think of buying plat online, something I am against.

I am almost completely funded now by the newer tradeskill drops, and I never even have the top tier drops to sell either. Pretty much any of the silks, loams, ores, marrow, etc. that drop in mid level zones or higher (50ish + I would guesstimate), have significant value to tradeskillers.

You must be on one of 'dem 'der poor severs.

I know a couple people on our server who have at least 35 million currently and one of those had at least 40m at his highest. And this isn't just a new thing either, an old friend of mine had 20m back in 2004.

How? In a nut shell, all 3 of these people are/were insane tradeskillers. High end gear is what they pump out at a sickening pace. It's not hard to make a million plat in sales a month in high end TS items. Spend some on yourself or plow it back into TS and then hang onto the rest .... and do it for 7 year... and well, you would have around 30 million also.

I was killing the hg's while waiting for the druid 1.0 mob to spawn and didn't notice a change in their cash drops, about a week ago.
A few had 10-35p but most had just gold (up to 50g) and weapons, just like always.

Actually looted more plat while hunting the corrupted cyclops in Ocean of Tears since there's more mobs to pick off and they can drop the occasional jewelery item that sells for 40-80p to vendors.

I had 15k to my name when I quit EQ back in April. I started playing again in November and just cracked the 1 million plat mark a couple days ago, just from selling drops. 15 million doesn't seem to be quite as impressive as it used to be.

Burning Wood has a better camp anyway. Leave the HG's to the newbs and asshats who like monopolize them.

Try the three ice giants in Everfrost Hills.
They spawn pretty fast also.

The giants like a Dromrek hunter in Goru`kar Mesa drop nice amounts of coin each time and there are a large number of them to hunt. Enough to keep three high level farmers busy, one in giant caves, one outside the caves and nearby, and another by zoneout to The Steppes.

Buying and selling in the bazaar has turned me a pretty fortune and I only do it casually... have kept me and my partner in very nice gear (full DoN cultural to 60, plate and chain), nice weapons, augs, latest jewellery (including back-up for when the nerf-bat hits).

Spent a week or two following the trends, bought low and sold higher (making sure not fleece), throw in tradeskill drops and the odd LoN boosterpack, and I have never been wanting. I have not added it up but as a casual player and trader I must have turned over a million since the summer and that was as a restart on a new server).

My highest character is just 59 too so not been able to take advantage of later loot drops.
