I play on the combine server and think it's wicked sweet. The problem is that my main is well past the lvl 52 to kill Vox and that other ****** dragon. I've never seen them, much less been in on the kill of them.
My question is this, what would be the best class to lvl up and work on if my SOLE purpose was to solo the old school high end content? I think the Combine just opened up PoR this week, which means more AA's will open up.
From personal play history I've play a warrior, sk, chanter, and shammy all past those lvls. I've enjoyed the SK the most, but want to try something different. I prefer hybrids vs. anything else. Although I do have a monk that is kick *** fun to play that is around lvl 40 and moving fast. And I'm not opposed to casters, just the idea of wearing robes bothers me. Why can't casters have cool vests or something?
And yes my toon WILL be twinked by my main.

I think it would be a monk, with lots of ds and heal potions.
Back in the day it was a level 52 monk that had the claim of soloing vox.
They had leveled to over 60 had time gear and then been sacced down to 52.

I think the monk who first solo'd Vox and Naggy was Tecknoe Destructoes back in 2003. At the time, there was lots of questions as to the validity. The most common claim was he used EQemu (an EQ Emulator) so didn't really do it in game. No idea as to what's true or not but since then many have done it in game as mages, monks, and SK's. And even a cleric!!

The people I have heard about soloing Vox and Naggy were brought to Vex Thal to loot raid drops there because alot of it has no rec/req level and is uber for a lv 52 character. It is more about gear and potions than class. I think it would be even easier now with Dwerium Trio jewelery.

Mage is also great,at least for vox/naggy,epic pet,chain pets etc after that.
not sure if you can make dwerium etc on the combine,but mages are less gear dependent then monks at that level.
for a monk its all about prayers of life,and those other insta heal pots (im blanking on the name of them,its a small heal and shamans make it from ice giants?) and of course the merchant HoT's
Other then that,for velious+ content farming (solo) Sk would be best.

So what I'm hearing is that if it's going to be done in an "honorable" fashion, the best way to go is gonna be via a pet class. Which is really kind of what I thought, but my fear is that with both being a "belly" caster, in order to be effective I've got to be RIGHT there with them.
The mage AC and HP worry me with that being the case, their need to DD in order to be effective would pull aggro from pet.
The necro would seem to have a better shot at it simply because it can land the spells and then run away. Take the burst DPS, but able to heal while the DoTs and the pet handle business. I think the nec pet at that lvl is pretty solid.
On the other hand, the SK would have the AC and the HP to potentially stand in (with healing pots and buffs of course, having the handy little vet reward doesn't blow either) and go toe to toe. Landing the dots, using a toyed up pet, along with his normal DPS. So I lean that way a little more, but since my main is an SK, I'd like to try something different.
The Pally is intriquing because of the same basic AC and HP, but with the stuns over dots and minus the pet, would I be able to generate enough DPS to take them down?

A level 52 Paladin or SK with what weapon? That's going to de a DPS of about 1.
Do it with an epic 1.0 Berserker. It's a 37 Delay 46 Damage ratio 40% Haste. It's arguably the best epic 1.0 and the best level 46 required weapon. Can you use Dwerium Trio on Combine?

Posted: Jan 11 2008 at 6:50 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) forget any pet class. the only one with a shot would be a beastlord. they have the best pet heals. you land the necro dots, your going to get summoned. the necro pet is very very weak. at level 66 the COB pet only hits for 78 damage and doesnt have a whole lot of hitpoints. vox will shred the 51 pet much faster than you could possibly heal it, and even if you have the pet heal aa ability, using it is a sure way to get summoned and slammed. MABE the mage epic air pet, but their 1000 hp heal at that level would drian you of mana really really fast, and land a couple dd spells your done.
