I am totally new to this wiki thing. I have used wikipedia in the past as a reference but never attempted to submit anything. This site is undergoing revisions through Groogle's hard efforts to incorporate wiki content to various parts of the site. There was a post recently regarding the status of the old class forums now that they are undergoing wikification.

For the Class forums and some other areas I'm not sure it's the best approach but as long as there are still discussion forums available that shouldn't be a problem.

In relation to the EQ Beastiary I think it's a great thing having it wikified once people start submitting in it. No more scouring through posts for the most current relevant information. Toward that end I'd like to start submitting info to the beastiary but would really like some help and feedback. As I said, I've never submitted anything in wiki form before and I can't seem to find any decent examples in the beastiary.

I started an entry for a mob I encountered recently, an ashenbone drake, or rather I entered the first info to the existing entry. I didn't know whether I should restate the things already listed outside the wiki format, like the mob level range and factions and related quests. I feel it should be in the wiki entry too but left it out for now.

I'd really like to see someone else's example of a well done beastiary wiki entry to give me an idea of how it can be done better.

In regards to the new Class Wiki info; I would suggest moving that to the "Game Information" section (where it says "classes and races"), and then leaving the class forums where they have always been, ie in the "forums" section.

I see it as a little incongruous to have the class/race info wiki page in the "forums" section, when there is already a section dedicated to that type of info.

Anyways, just a suggestion to help streamline and organize a little better. I can't really comment on the other stuff, other than "good job" on all the hard work being put into the site to update it.

I had to rate you up for that great suggestion. I agree, I would like to keep the link to the original class forums under the Forums section at the left margin and move the new wiki links to the Game Information section or create a new section in the margin for wiki links.

Generally speaking, I'd like to avoid having redundant information in the wiki, so the wiki should only display things that aren't on the DB side of the bestiary. We do have the ability to prepopulate wiki entries with data from the DB, so if something comes up where we'd for some reason want level info in each article, a five minute change can make it display.

I may alter the layout of the sidebar a bit, because you're right, having the classes and races wiki page linked under the forums doesn't make too much sense. I may wait until I have something mostly ready to replace the skills forums as well, and just migrate races/skills/classes/emotes/commands/crossgame tells to a WIKI heading.

Most bestiary articles on non-raid mobs have so far been basic infoboxes, a list of everything it can handle can be found herebut I like what you've done as well. You can see all articles that use the EQ template (which is most of the articles in the bestiary) here for examples.
