Well, is it possible, or are we forced to purchase the $40 bundle with all the previous expansions too? I can't seem to find SoF as 'stand-alone' anywhere.

As far as I know, only the $40 bundle that contains all the expansions will be available. I think I remember reading somewhere that since they've changed expansion releases to once a year, that it would contain all the game, not just the latest expansion by itself.

Isn't the usual price for new expansions around forty bucks anyway? The rest is just value-added.

new expansions were typically $30, but they switched to a one a year cycle; going forward, $40 can probably be expected.

$10 price increase is to make up for revenue SoE looses by only doing one exspansion a year. All the claim items is way for SoE to soften blow of increase at no real cost to themselves.

All exspansion included is just a way for SoE to make it easier for returning players to rejoin the game and intice some boxxers to upgrade all there accounts.

It's personally worth $10 to me if they spend the time to make a quality expansion once a year and not rush out expansions (some, not all) that are lacking because they are already having to turn focus on the 2nd expansion of the same year. If SoF and following expansions (lets hope they stick to the 1 a year plan) have as much effort put into them as would be split over two projects then to me its more than fair.

How will the old player know? Again it comes down to SoE’s lazy marketing dept. they need to get the word out... but that is an aspect I did not consider in bring the old player in with all the expansions rolled up in one. Now put it out on shelves. Send out posters and hit the publications… I do not mind paying the extra $10 if this is the intent. Time will tell. Thanks for the insight SiddarA

I think it is overly optimistic to hope that less frequent expansions equates to higher quality expansions.

Well I agree more marketing would be a good thing returning players are not that uncommon these days.

Mostly they find out by logging into game and saying Hi remeber Me? in guildchat or they post about returning on guild message boards happens atleast two are three times a month in my guild.

Most just log in a few days then disapear again more visting then returning but about a third actualy do return for atleast a couple of months. Exspansions are one of first things they bring up I have no doubt that recent increase in returning players is atleast partialy linked to recent all exspansions but TBS offer put in a few months ago.

Once we get past holiday season im sure SoE will drop price down to $29.99 and it will be a priced just about right for returning players.

Another way they will find out is by us talking to those that we know personally. I had a former player come by my office to do some IT work for me and asked how the game was going. He had left first to go to EQ2, then to WoW and was only moderately happy with WoW, his girlfriend liked it so they stayed. I showed him game on my work computer and told him about the new expansion having all the previous expansions. He bought it and is now coming back into the game - bringing the GF with him.

Word of mouth is by far the best marketing tool out there.

The expansions have been $29.99 for several years now, and the price increase is only for the "bigger" expansion on one year cycle. The prior expansion are a gimme for free. Even without a bigger expansion, the price increase is reasonable as it has stayed the same price for years, while their costs have gone up.

Here's my question...since I already own all the expansions thus far, could I buy the new expansion, activate only that expansion on my account then give the remaining older expansions to a friend to install?

No. It doesn't work that way. You get one key in the box, that enables all expansions. Once that key is consumed, you cannot re-use it.

Dang it, I bought a new account a week or 10 days ago to transfer my bots to. They sold me all the expansions 1-13 for $29.99, did NOT offer me exp 14 even though I already bought it on my original account. Now, they won't transfer my characters until I pay another $40 for ONE expansion? Ah, so nice and fair of them. Live and learn, I should have waited 2 weeks and saved the $30. :(
