well alot has changed since i last played eq about 2 and a half years ago. and i was looking to pick it back up as a downtime fun base. i have a few questions for you guys...

currently, i am running a laptop, now back in the day they said you couldnt play eq on a laptop. is that still the case?

which server has the largest population as of right now? what are the numbers like?

laptops can play EQ, but aren't officially supported by SOE. so, if you have tech support problems you may be less likely to get them resolved.

My laptop works now, but only since the last patch. Before then, it just wouldn't run at all. 2gb of ram, a decent vid card etc, so it wasn't a problem with the specs.

I just bought a new laptop and, after some cursing around and research in various forums, I've got it running like a dream on mine: 2 gig of memory on a santa rosa board, dual core, with a high res screen and geforce go 7950 GTX (and Win XP).

I copied the install across a home network, updated DirectX (laptop said I had the right version but didn't run until I loaded the up to date version linked on the SOE tech forums), deleted my config files, disabled a core on the launchpad screen before hitting play (bit fiddly as I do it every time atm before playing - bring up processes, right click, choose set affinity and click *off* CPU 0 or 1 [everquest.exe doesn't let you set affinity]) and clicked play (make sure your screen resolution is properly supported).

Good luck - all but my trader running on my laptop now, more smoothly and in higher res.

>>Here<< is an extremely non-scientific poll of server use. Keep in mind this is only Alla users, and I think you even have to be a premium user to vote in polls (not sure??).

Again, just from reading these forums I'd say most of the newer activity seems to be happening on Stromm (go Stromm!!), but that hardly speaks to the population as a whole. FV is reportedly hurting for peeps.
