question about getting groupsFollow

I've come back from a 5 year absence of EQ.

I've noticed it has become extremely hard to find groups at
lower levels.

Is this because everyone has so many alts. that they
don't need or want to group?
I for one want and need groups. Soloing is great but it is
not all I want to do with my playtime.

Am I doing something wrong when I ask people to group and
get no response at all? Are they "boxing" or just ignoring
tells?

Is there a level I'm expected to be before anyone will group
with me or even act like I'm there?

I've been gone but I am not ignorant on playing the game.

I still enjoy EQ at its essence but being uninvolved or unnoticed
is becoming quite old.

on Torvonillous I am

Feydakin 13 Ranger
Druthe 20 Bard
Zyeen 6 Necro

I am not opposed to switching servers.
I've tried Firiona Vie, Stromm, and even the European servers all with
the same effect. One group in two and a half weeks of being back in the game and that was just a duo.
I've rambled enough.
Some insight would be appreciated.

addendum:
I think one issue might be my playing time.
Late at night when its best for me most people apparently
are only playing their mains. Grouping with alts. is fine with
me, at least its a group.

I played about 5 hours earlier than usual on Torv.
and found two different groups.
Perhaps that is my best solution, although not so plausible.
I will look into getting the expansions as well.
What is the average price of the Anniversary pack? 20 bucks?
Thanks for the advice and info. as well, I'll put it to use.

Firiona Vie's special ruleset (and transfer restrictions) have essentially killed the server.

You may have some luck on Maelin, but the low level game in general is not anywhere near as healthy as it used to be.

You may also have good luck looking around for a guild that focuses on the lower levels; some people here may have suggestions in that regard.

Thanks

If anyone has info. on guilds such as those please post it here
or give me an idea where to look.

I'll do some digging on my own as well.

I don't know about the special rule set on Firiona Vie, hurting it, unless Groogle is referring only to the one character part of it. Nothing else there should stop someone from playing on it. But the no-transfer doesn't help. It makes sense why though you cannot transfer in, or out, esp. the out.

Over the last 6 months, the server has been crashing every 22-24 hours. This is what really has driving the population down, lately. There are also a surprisingly fair amount of people who don't even know it is a special ruleset server, and how. They think it's another blue server. Lastly there are open rumors floating that SOE plans on deep sixing the server, in the future. Like they did Premium pay server, via server merger, or just shutting it down.

Heavydrop, if you wish Stromm might not be a bad choice for you. There seems to be a large number of people playing from L1-20 at least. There tutorial has 20+ every night. And Crescent Reach zone has 20+ every night as well. Vendors are usually full, and there bazaar has 250+ traders up all the time, even in daytime. Do you have all the expansions for EQ by chance? Getting the digital, or storebought version, of the annivarsary pack, from this past april would be a good idea.

Lastly, if you wish again, I have a L13 shaman, and a L6? Wizard on that server. I can group with you depending on what day, and time. A few days a week, a few hours at night, or day. Just depends. I have a longtime ingame friend who might join us as well, if you wish.

I was referring to the fact that it doesn't allow transfers in or out because of its ruleset, and has never been merged because of its ruleset -- those two things combined have put its population incredibly low compared to other servers for quite a while, and the recent crashes have just sent it further downhill.

I am on Stromm as well and if ya need a buff or 2 look up Bravehardt.

As for grouping it isn't anywhere need a s easy as it was a few years ago. I'm a 75 Cleric who sometime cannot find a group. As the game player base has srunk a lot of folk group with guildies only.

No matter the server your best bet would be in the CR newbie areas or the hot zone for your level.

Actually no, I don't have all the expansions.
I bought the Platinum edition and wanted to see
if the game still held enough interest for me.I suppose to give it a
fair shake I should buy the Anniversary Edition.

Does not having all the expansions stop me from "seeing" (or being seen)everyone who is a possible group member?

I have a 9 Druid on Stromm (Hasufel)

I usually play 10pm-12am or sometimes later
PST or MST depending on time of year
(screwy Arizona and its not doing daylight savings time)

Look me up or give me some toon names and I'll look you up.

Thx

Probably so, remember Crescent Reach is part of the TSS expansion, 2 back sept 06. Also I think, that DoN Jan 05 added the guild lobby, and guild hall. Most people congregate in one of those two spots. If your missing both that is not helping your cause.

TSS= The serpent spine and DoN= Dragons of Norrath.

Also, the only having one character per account on FV means to make a lowbie alt you have to make a new account or delete your main. FV = no lowbie characters.

Smiley: nod
Lots of people are leveling up thru the TSS zones...decent newb gear too. It's worth getting.

HeavyDrop I missed your time frames for playing earliar. Your basically LFG from 10pm PST to 1am PST. I am a EST player, If I tried to play with you at that time, I will be the zombie, not the pixel mob on the screen. I cannot help you out, wish I could though.

Heavy!!

Get on Stromm...pretty good lowbie base compared to other servers..also very helpful and friendly people. I can't tell you how many times I've gotten buffs and even gear/potions, etc from total strangers.

Look at the thread "lvl 1 group" in this forum for a lowbie group that formed just a few weeks ago. We usually play on Wednesday, and a Druid would be most welcome as some can't make it every week.

For more consistent play, send a tell to the following toons, as I am playing primarily late nights as I work a late-shift IRL.

Juthak 58 Monk
Gedd 28 Bard
Berzha 26 Necromancer
Bruuz 11 Shadowknight<lowbie group>

Join us....JOINNN USSSSS!!!

I like your group idea.
