Hi everybody,
Did you already heard about the possibility to get a real customized figurine/object out the game (characters, building…)? It seems that it’s now possible to capture in-game geometries and textures, to send the data to a 3d printer and to receive the real object back: http://www.aeropause.com/archives/2006/08/3d_printed_game.php.
What do you think would be a good price for a 10 inches high figurine of your favorite character and how many such objects would you buy per year?
Personally I would pay $150 (even if the real price is probably around $300!!) and would buy 1 or 2 parts per year! What do you think? It would be so great to see such possibilities become real!

Yes, I followed the link. And apparently this thread is not the ad I thought it was, because the figurines aren't actually sold on the linked site...

I'm sure there are peeps who WOULD pay a lot of money for such a gimmick...

Headlines Read:
Elinda purchases Ever Quest Halfling action figurine. The figurine lived at the home of Elinda for approximately three weeks, when a call was placed to 911 from Mis Wedding CakeToper. Apparently Halfling Action (for short), got Robot Blockhead hooked on EQ. After a three day gaming session Blockheads copper top stopped.
Halfling Action is being detained on charges of pedaling addictive substance that lead to the death of Mr. Blockhead. Local Authorities are still looking at pressing charges on SOE for creation of the addictive substance. SOE’s attorney gave a statement “SOE did not create Norath, they are simply hosting the game.” When SOE’s attorney was asked who made Norath. The attorney gave a sharp answer “Brad!” and pulled a Nerf Bat on the reporter.

I would say something witty to help this cause, but I'd rather IBTL.
