To start baking, you can go to Abysmal Sea and do the Baking Freebie task which will bring you to a skill of 54 for free. Moreover, you will find all sorts of advices and recipes on EQ Traders.

Trivial means the skill level at which you won't advance anymore if you keep combining the corresponding recipe. For example: Halas 10lb Meat Pie has a trivial level of 226; you have a chance of improving your baking skill on this recipe as long as you have a baking skill lower than 226.

The trivial colors show the difficulty of a successful combine of this recipe;
green = trivial (which does not mean that the combine cannot fail!)
blue = near your skill range
yellow = challenging
red = very hard to impossible to combine successfully

The color depends on the difference between the trivial of the recipe and your actual skill level.

Just remember
Friends dont let friends do tradeskills.

BUT if you have no friends, you will make great ones by becoming a tradeskill artist. Plus you can get a nifty charm after a fewwwwww hours and much clickage.

eqtraders is the place to go.
