With their ****** tech support and their greed.

My friend(Koronus) wanted to start playing EQ today, so he went out and bought the Anniversarry edition. When he went to use is free month of gameplay, he accidentally put the number into an old account he had made months ago with the purpose of buying EQ. Because of this he wasn't able to use his free month.

He went to the chat support and asked if there was a way to remedy this. The person who helped him said "No, you'll have to pay for your first month because you did that" and disconnected without even waiting for any further questions.

Because of this, SOE has lost both my friend and myself as paying customers.

**** SOE, **** EQ.

I hear WoW is good, I guess I can just be one of the many people who have left EQ for better games.

That's not the point I was getting at. The point I was getting at was that they could have at least made it look like they were going to make an attempt at helping, but instead they were rude, and didn't even bother hearing him out. This also seems like the kind of problem that could easily be fixed if SOE's representatives bothered to hear him out.

I played WoW for a wile after I left EQ. The game its self is very easy compared to EQ and the community IMHO sucked.

I left EQ orginally over a issue with billing that took 6 months of calls and e-mails to get fixed. They fixed it but I had had enough at that point.

This happened to your friend, but you are quitting?

This just doesn’t sound right to me.

1. How do you accidently enable all expiations on an existing account?
2. It states on the box that the month of free play is only for new accounts.

Okay, so your friend didn’t get to play for a month free… or did he? When he started his fist account did he not get to play for free??? So really why would SOE give him 2 free months of play time!?
And then you go on to say your quitting EQ basically because your friend didn’t get two months of free play time, and did not pay attention to what he was doing.

Hmm… if you base all of your decisions off of your fiend’s blunders you’re in for a rough ride.

But really why not take this action: Pay the bill like the rest of us and enjoy the game with your bud.

Honestly no, it isn't.

If they use any sane registration key handling software, it's pretty much impossible to actually reset that key to make it usable again. If your friend already had a second account registered to him then it might be possible to get them to transfer expansion updates and such from one to the other (if you ask really really nicely). However, the only way to get the free month is if you create a brand new account. Since the account doesn't yet exist, there's no way for them to correlate it to him. They'd have to somehow reverse the key use, which is likely a component of the system designed specifically *not* to be reversible...

I have a suspicion that "no" is pretty much the only answer you're going to get on this. IMO, 29 bucks is a small price to learn a pretty basic lesson about paying attention to what you're doing. Unless he just planned on playing for one month, why doesn't he just enable the account he's got (that now has all the expansions) and play?

It's in bad form and all... but if you still have that gear I gave you from my Pally, I wouldn't mind it back... >.>...

I agree that Sony could do better. When introducing new content that affects old content, they don't think it through. Their customer service sucks... but what do you expect? I don't honestly think Sony even cares about EQ1 anymore... they're more focused on their other games.

Forget everything I said, Let the thread die.

I got pissed off at losing my chance to play with my best friend and over-reacted.

I'm still playing EQ, I'm just playing WoW at the same time now.

I apologize for my earlier doucheiness.

I'm just going to sink back into lurk mode now as I've made an idiot of myself...

I've gotten pissed at sony and quit more times than I care to remember. I still come back and play. I now only pay monthly so when I do get pissed and quit, I won't be paying for 3 months I'm not using.

You can get anniversery edition now for $7.99 from circuit city. Have your friend buy another copy and play for a month free that way. At the worst he could have two accounts with all expansions and he could two box when you aren't around :)

Hehe, yeah Drift, don't worry about looking dumb, once Shadow "enlightens" a few more people with his "advice" in a couple more threads, everyone will forget all about your lil episode here =p
