First time back since... March or so. I log my cleric... they mutilated the Item Info window... they butchered the AA window... okay, I roll an alt to get used to it all.

Pally on Stromm. I have... bash at level 1? Normally level 6... okay, I'll get used to it. But... then my RIPOSTE skill goes up? Now my monk has Eagle Claw, Dragon Claw, Tiger Claw, Tail Rake, etc... what the hell did Sony do to our game?

they tried to beef up the low end game by giving more skills to lower level players to keep them more interested in the game. they are constantly changing the interface to keep people from getting boared.

the population on stromm should give you a good indicator as to how sucessfull they were.

Very few people play at the low end anymore. New toons are most often started by someone who's been through the content and wants to level it up quickly.
Thus, I imagine the changes to skill levels. I did just start a rogue (depite my claim to swearing off alts., and didn't notice skill upgrades coming at lower levels..but that's not surprising. The new Rogue is level 16 and still without a piece of gear cept a necklace she picked up (lol been PLing her with the Druid. Two 45min sessions to get her to 16 Smiley: tongue).

There have been some patches, and tweeking of later-end skills from newer expansions but havent really heard much general whining about skill levels??

Yeah, some windows changed. I'm finding the new AA set-up much easier to find the AA's I'm looking for. Smiley: smile

The Guild Lobby now stops buff-timers so that's where everyone hangs out. You might have noticed PoK is empty. The Guild Lobby is cramped.

...and LoN was added..Smiley: glare

You'll find that pretty much everyone in the game loathes the new Item Window. Last I looked there was over a 50 page thread at EQLive of people begging them to bring back the old window or make the new work differently. The Devs don't seem to be getting the message though unfortunately.

The new AA window does seem to be a nightmare at first glance, but once you get the hang of it, it's much easier to use than the old one. Combining all the AA's from the multiple expansions into a single series makes it MUCH easier to see where you are at and where you need to go. There were some bugs at first (of course) but for the most part they have all been fixed.

If you are wondering about what changes have been made in general, Alla's and Caster's Realm have some pretty good info on the new things that the expansions introduce. Overall, TSS and TBS are really good, with TSS really standing out as the jewel of the latest expansions. New starter city and zones that have progression and quests from level 1 on up to 75. TBS is geared more towards the higher levels, but with the intro of DoN type merchants with gear that is of really high quality, it gives the non-raider casual an oppurtunity for stuff they can really be proud of.

Lol, I have a 58 Drakkin Cleric that I progressed mainly through TSS until I hit GE at about 55... Loved that expansion. TBS, not so thrilled with.

Nice to see you back, NaturesParadox :-)

SOE made it a lot easier for low level players to advance; you already mentioned the skills, and considering the out of combat regen and Crescent Reach as a starting city (mobs do not add in this zone! - except for the undead ones), you can make your way through the teens in no time (even if soloing).

Hope you enjoy the low levels!

Aye... been there, done that... I just... am kinda annoyed at it, I guess. I used to think getting to a certain level, to earn a certain skill, was an accomplishment, and now I find out that they're set to level 1... mutter.
