*yawn* It's still early... how was your weekend?

Thu: Full group in Dranik's Scar, pulling to Noble's zoneline. Exp and loot were pretty good, made half a level and we got lots of gems as well as a Mudflow Stone. Made my first visit to Maiden's Eye, but didn't get the epic drops I was looking for. It's always fun exploring "new" zones!

Fri: Can't remember...

Sat: Spent all day on the couch, eating nachos and watching some DVDs (The Fountain, 300).

Sun: Lots of flat cleaning and another DVD (The number 23); we went out in the evening and had a fantastic ribeye steak, accompanied by some great Austrian red wine. (I confess, I'm a foodie...) Only half an hour of EQ, but got my baby necro from 12 to 13.

Fri: THe wife and I hit 51 on our Pally, BL, SHAM, DRU combo team in AC. Took a earlie night and watched the crimson tide.

Sat: Didged the Mage 51 before doing yardwork. The above mentioned team Dinged 52 in AC. Watched the movie the longest day.

Sun: Took the Cleric out and was in a xp group with some very old friends. Was late for a open rain in Air , but arrived safely and had a blast running thru air for the first time. HEck it was my first raid in over a year. Took the mage out in the evening for a bit to Veks lab. Its amazeing how 1 person can make a PUG annoying. It would never come to me to join a group of 5 and start makeing changes and trying to do things differently and ******** constantly. This gem left on his 52 pally to go get his 35 necro to be our puller. That was my cue to skadoo.... Watched DR Strangelove instead.

Not much of a weekend, as it was devoted to coaching volleyball ( team finished third in the tourney, not bad )

Did create my froglok cleric on Stromm for the Alla pickup group.

Also went to Veksar with my wizard ( created Nov. 1999 Smiley: dubious) and the cleric to kill undead. Actually, was alot of fun. Hadn't played the wiz in forever, and we wrecked mobs. Not great exp, but the wiz has only 4 AA's, so actually he did pretty good. Trying to get cleric to 58 for Celestial Healing, so will take him longer.

Oh, took the two of them to Tenebrous Mountains to kill vamps. That was cool, but the Cotiere commander proved too tough. Oh well, still fun.

The anniversary pack was too good a bargain, so picked one up about 2 weeks ago for my 3rd account. Moved my 56 chanter to it and started getting the hang of 3-boxing.

Over the whole week-end: chanter dinged 57 and 58, zerker pinged 3 AAs, beasty got half way through 62, druid dinged 64 and cleric got about a yellow further into 72. Very productive week-end.

My goal is to get chanter to 62 quickly so I can group her with the zerker (68) and cleric (72) and try my hand at some instances. I think the DoN instance of "Grounding the Drakes" would be easy enough with this trio.

Saturday Night alliance raid made our first on attempt on Volkara, the Spider - DoN tier 3 raid. This is supposedly one of the tougher DoN raids....it was tough. Volkara's got about the nastiest poison AE dot, I've ever run into; puts Grummus's diseases to shame.

We made two attempts and wiped raid both times with Volkara at or just below 10%. We got her on the third attempt. I saw her die, then saw the tank die from the spiderling adds, then...loading. The raid pretty much wiped again, but we hardly cared cuz we got the big bad spinner dead. Terribly fun evening and I won roll on one of the progression stones so am nearly done with tier 3.

Sunday went on PoAir raid...I conned rosleck into coming along. Smiley: grin It was a nice mellow raid. We didn't push to hard or too far, but got one key mob down.

Otherwise got almost a dozen jars of crab-apple jam canned up, and went out to dinner with my sister-in-law. Was a quiet weekend. Smiley: smile

Presenting my longest-winded update ever:

Started out Saturday very early in the AM, joined a Direwind group fighting the undead there. 12 AAs gained while there, my most productive grind in a long time.

Later that afternoon was the weekly open PoP raid (been going for roughly a year now, led by the ever capable Shorril) , targeting the minis in Solusek Ro, decided to come out and help.

Not long into the Raid, the leader experiences the first of several computer crashes to come. The next 2 crashes seemed to have more or less gotten him killed (also main pulls on the raids). Hard to fake death when dealing with linkdeath I'd think. With 2 minis to go he informed us that a 4th crash would be all he could handle (understandably) and that if it happened he would be leaving me (!) in charge of finishing things up.

Sure enough a matter of minutes later brought another crash and I was now responsible for leadership on my first ever (legitimate) raid. Thanks to some assistance keeping my head straight for the next two encounters we were successful in doing away with the final 2 minis.

I was about to congratulate everyone on a successful raid when the not-too-surprising calls started coming for Solusek Ro himself, seeing this we decided to press onward. Unfortunately confusion caused several deaths as people trickled into Sol. Ro's chamber rather than as a complete force, and those rather hard hitting guardians of his made short work of those of us charging up in small bunches.

After recovering and losing several to the attrition of a long long raid being interrupted, we went after Sol Ro himself and flattened him, I had the task of getting to tank him down after we lost our main tank due to some seemingly bad timing on heals.

Later that night was the Volkara Raid as previously mentioned by Elinda, incredibly frustrating wipes thanks to those nasty adds piling up thanks to a few people burning Volk down too quickly. But was nice to get the win in the end.

Missed raiding Plane of Air sunday, had two linkdeaths while raid was forming and since my connection was acting pretty flaky it wasn't too hard to talk myself into a day away after that Saturday EQ binge.

Best be careful in case Shor is looking to pass on the SSAR reigns. (I think it's like a Dread Pirate Roberts things, but you only need to make sure your name starts with "S" to step in.)

Not much EQ for me this weekend, although I did start a ranger, warrior and cleric and ran them through the Crescent Reach starter quests, all of them level 13 or 14 now.

Nordlys Crusaders beat Sullen Zek on sunday, welcome to Dethknell all in the guild =)

Nothing super exciting. Although I did get into a few groups and ran into yet more people I remember playing with back in the day. Actually had someone ask for a character to be invited to the guild (which has been mostly inactive for the last several years). Go figure...!

I did have the most amusing time with a character I ran into in WoS. One of those rare people who seem to have left their "clue" at the door...

Basically, while hunting undead murks with a small group, a level 75 paladin from one of the higher level guilds (which shall remain nameless) came along. He bragged about how he could solo 5 murks at a time in here, but he'd lower himself to grouping with us. Well great...

He proceeded to be the dumbest tank I've ever seen. The guy was a literal walking stereotype. It was that funny (mainly cause we didn't die). He used his knockback stun liberally. He pulled multiples and then "forgot" to keep agro on them. At one point, a level 75 shaman joined us and he started rambling about how great the "stoney orc" spell was and wondering why the shaman hadn't cast it on him. Turns out he meant "Spirit of the Stoic one". Apparently, he didn't read or pay attention much...

Oh. Also, when the shaman arrived he breathed a sigh of relieve. See. He'd picked up a curse from something in MPG and insisted that the shaman cure him. When I asked why he hadn't cured himself, he seemed confused and unaware that paladins get one of the best cure lines in the game. Hrmm....?

At one point, I decided to bait him. I asked him how hard it was to get into his guild (did I mention that he was actually in one of the "on paper" higher level "uber" guilds on the server?). His answer "not hard" (shocker! Really?). He then rambled on about how there are requirements, but to "just ignore them cause they don't really matter". I considered asking him how long he'd been playing and how much it cost to PL his character (and whether he'd done so in "burned woods", but figured that would be a bit too obvious and he might just catch on that I was mocking him, and not really serious about asking how to get into his "uber" guild. He seemed quite proud of the fact that this was his one and only character in EQ... (yeah. Clueless...).

The shaman and I had a few laughs in tells during all of this. Dunno. It was actually the highlight of the weekend. We didn't actually die and the exp wasn't terrible, and the guy was more amusing then dangerous, so I just had fun with it. I've just never run into someone who so perfectly nailed every single "bad" stereotype out there. Amazing really...

I did realize the bit of irony to that after completing the raid...

Friday I played the cleric in 2 dain 1. My first for him. Picked up the ring and shield. Died to a swarm of greens on one of the boats in dulak. (
Adeste the ranger did some killing in Dulak.
Saturday was the Science fiction society meeting after work so I didnt play eq. Just looked at stuff on trader.

Sunday after giving tours I came home, fixed dinner then logged Ranger into dulak on one of the boats, burned LOD, then logged winjon the paladin ran him to nadox and burned LOD with him.
Finally I logged on BL. Fenogre by name, and took him to Iceclad, killing the undead for corrupted shards. Dinged 37 and 38. Almost done with the task for the undead slow.
