Pink Text .... /whineFollow

/whine

As of (some number of) patches back, you used to be able to have pink highlighted text in a social by putting code in the social (out of game editing). As in:

changing
Incoming << %t >>

to
Incoming << 0019718-00001-00001-00001-00001-000018A5E2B4 %T >>

But that doesn't work anymore. It truncates 5 characters from the left .

Could some one who understands this bit of Hex please post... or tell what the meaning of the Hex is ??

/whine off

Thanks

You need "0038-2F14-1150-0000-0000-0000-0000-0000-0000-0004A %T" now.

I would very much like to learn to do this.

I'm looking at the code, and I see most of it is typeable, except for that square. How can I type that part in to an EQ social?

-copy the line from the post, everything but the "

-now go into your c/programfiles/sony/everquest (or whatever yours maybe)and look for a the file with your toons name, such as BOB_fenninro.ini (whatever your server maybe )

-this file is a list of your hotkeys and spellsets and such

-assuming you have hotkeys made, paste line over your %T. Be sure that there is a space before the first square and a space after the last square.

-Now save the file, "save as" and there should be the option under ENCODING, save it as a UTF-8. Click yes to overwrite the file, then your golden

-now the target will come up as pink, like the link to an item.

-As an option, in that line of text, the %T itself can be changed to words such as Tenacity or Pooh or whatever. I use it sometimes when im looking for a KEI, for example " Donating for a KEI, pst"--the word KEI would be in pink, because i placed the line of text where the word KEI was in the original statement and then modified the line as stated.

- I hope that was somewhat clear to you, and I hope it works for you

Awesome, thank you. That makes perfect sense. I'll give that a try for when the servers ever come back up today =)

Semi-unrelated question:

How do I set a social? I've had nothing but trouble trying to get them to work.

http://eqtoonx.free.fr/Fake_link/fake_link.html

Goal : Make a fake link in your hotkeys.

* In game
o Start to create a hotkey where you want put your link "Incoming %T" or whatever you want
o Open your log if you didnt did it yet, /Log ON
o type ";tell Item_Link_Here" (yes, that's with a semicolon, not a slash), you can use whatever you want for link. Water or food work well enough. That will yield a long series of numbers, along with the first word in the item's name.
You may see a message cant find players "0148C30000000000000000000000000000000000001AD3D5C3water".
The 0148C30000000000000000000000000000000000001AD3D5C3 part is what you'll need to use for your hotkey.
o Turn your log OFF now /Log OFF.
* Log OFF (/camp desktop)
o Open your log file in folder Everquest\log\ & search for your char name log.
o Open it and at end you may find the link you have try to tell.
o Copy it, including the special character who is before AND after.
o Locate your character's ini file in your Everquest folder, files name look like "Character_server.in" & open it. search for your hotkey "Incoming %T" in this case and modify it like "PageXButtonYLineZ=Incoming > ?0148C30000000000000000000000000000000000001AD3D5C3 %T?"
o There, your hotkey will link the item you have used to make the link then i ever change the last number of the link.
"?0148C30000000000000000000000000000000000001AD3D5C3" will become
"?0148C30000000000000000000000000000000000001AD3D5C4" for exemple.
o Now, save your file by the meny file => save as... and pick UTF-8 from the Encoding drop-down. The hotkey(s) will not work without UTF-8 encoding.
* Log back on EQ & test your hotkey to see if it link nothing. if it link somthing change it again a little and test it.
