I'm not sure if this is really a forum feedback type post, but I'm going to go out on a limb and ask whether LoN posts be appearing in an EQ 1 general forum. It is a trading card game, not an MMORPG, and is common to both EQ 1 and EQ 2. SoE just happened to throw a button into EQ 1 that pops up an in-game web browser that navigates to the LoN start page.

I admit there are ulterior motives behind this post, but it seems like a good enough excuse to make LoN go away from this forum.

I would have to agree.

I could not more strongly disagree Lon is a part of Everquest as much as Gems is. Just because you may not care for it does not validate your opinion as to whether it is part of the everquest environment and whether it should be discussed in this forum... This forum concerns any and all aspects of Everquest, which Legends of Norrath is. and as such I beleive has a place in this forumn for discussion... The booster packs and deck for the game can drop from mobs in the game which even more strongly points to the fact that it is a part of the game and has a place in these forums.

This is a gray area. Firstly, since LoN is common to EQ 1 *and* EQ 2, it seems like there should be a common place to discuss LoN that is common to EQ 1 *and* EQ 2, which is not here.

Secondly, Gems is free with my EQ subscription. LoN, for the most part, is not - I'll explain. You get one teaser starter deck to get you "hooked", and as a lame attempt to tie LoN into EQ a few cards drop in game. But the vast majority of LoN costs money above and beyond our normal EQ subscriptions. The price list is available here - $10 per starter deck, $3 per booster pack, $100 for 36 booster packs.

Anyone who is not going to buy the extra starter packs to get the good avatars and drop $3 per booster pack or buy $100 package is pretty much removed from the game in every practical sense. So, our EQ subscriptions really do not give us anything more than a demo LoN.

Its enough of a grey area that i'm going to leave tthem here for now unless volume is sufficient to warrent creating a new forum dedicated to them.

We don't even have enough to warrant an EQ forum nowadays so unless the EQ2 forums scream for it I doubt we're going to get a specific forum for LoN. Smiley: frown

I for one will just not read or post about LoN. I play EQ not a card game.

I never played Gems either :)

The problem with this approach is that LoN cuts across both EQ and EQ2, so while there may not be enough traffic on EQ alone or EQ2 alone, there may be if you put them together. Having a dedicated forum would also make it easier for LoN discussions to take place between the EQ and EQ2 people, who, IMO, don't typically visit each other's forums.

The problem here, is (as others have already mentioned) LoN is not EQ specific. You can play it from EQ and EQ2, so it's already not like gems. In addition, you can also play it without an EQ or EQ2 subscription at all (there is a new standalone client that was just released.) While it has to do with EQ, it also has to do with EQ2 and at the same time, doesn't have to do with either.
