I am a returning player (took a 3 year break) i am currently playing a cleric on the combine server, my question is, i hear people talking about "shrowding" their char's, can someone explain this to me i.e. what it is how do you do it or point me in the direction of a walkthrough. thank you in advance

If the combine is the progression server, I do not think they have unlocked that expansion yet.

Shrouding is where you can make your character a select monster of a level lower than your current, to either exp with low level buddies or to do certain tasks.

Shrouding came with Depths of Darkhollow as a way to lower your level in the form of a selected monster.

I.E. You can shroud down to a 25 wizard to group with fellow lowbies.

The levels you can shroud to are in increments of 5 (as in 5/10/15/20/25, etc.)

The shrouds can be used and leveled up to unlock more shrouds.... they are in classifications (such as undead/animal).

They can also be used to save buffs while you sit in PoK. (Get buffs, shroud, and sit). They may seem useful, but other than grouping with new characters and maybe the kobold rogue for feign death/sneak/hide and the fairy enchanter for charm for quest, they hold no real useable value that I have found.

Actually, they can be useful. Vox and Naggy have drops for a couple epics, and they also have a level restriction of 52. So helping a guildie get their epic got easier by being able to shroud down to 50.

Ahh yes I forgot about Vox/Naggy. Thanks for catching me on that one.

the plus of shrowding is you can create a class you may be lacking for a group too.

the bad about shrowding is the **** poor stats that come with them. you need to equip them with gear or they just flat out suck at higher levels. so while you "may" be able to help with naggy and vox quest items, one wave of ae wil kill you unless you have a bank full of gear for whatever class you choose to play.

i shrowded a level 60 wizard. had like 2000 hitpoints and 2400 mana. was really lame. would be useless in a naggy or vox fight. dont even try making a tank.

really, the only use for them is creating a low level character to play with friends or to just play with them in low level zones. just like every thing they give you in EQ,like dire charm for example, its "almost" usefull.

From what I've seen, Shadow, shrouds cannot be equipped with anything more than the weapons they come with. Unless you can manage to come up with some gear tagged for "Shroud" in the race.
