Hi all.

Im looking for some advice on a few things my char. would really benefit from at around lvls 17-20. I say this range to account for how long it might take to get a reply.

But since I dont know the game very well, i'm mostly sticking to the TSS expansion, Im wondering if theres some things like Augs or other.....power up's, for lack of a better phrase, that Im unaware of that a lvl 17 person could or should have by then.

Im thinking, theres probably a specific quest or two from an earlier expansion with a great reward that would benefit my toon.

Any and all suggestions are very welcome :)

Not at that level, sorry. Only serious twink items would count for what you're looking for at that level. They would normally be No Drop items you would need loot yourself with the help of high level characters to kill. The tradeable twink items that are worth it are pretty pricey.

After level 20 there are armor quests in CR for armor that would be considered GODLY in older expansions for that level. Mana regen and focus effects and good stats.

Also at level 20 and every 5 levels after there is a quest in PoK from James the Watchmaker for armor pieces in each of the current hotzones. The hotzones also drop augs for the right level (starting at 20 and every 5 levels after). Hotzones start at 20 also with Netherbian Lair.

I'm afraid you'll have to wait until 20 or later to start working on any of the decent gear or augs.

Oh, np. I appreciate the guidance.

As you know, with every level, I get a message of some new place I could go. Its seeming like those places are outdated, I hate to say.

Those armor missions from CR sound like my cup of tea. Ive tried like 3 armor quests from one of the contacts in POK. They werent so fun considering the reward, but thats opinion. Im sure Butcherblock Mtns. is/was more fun when youre not the only guy in the whole zone, lol.

I did however download a map pack from Mapfiend.net and I'm loving it. Now, every zone I go into is fully mapped out with every contact listed.

Im sure Mapfiend.net is old news to you guys, but its gonna help me alot and make the game 100 times more playable and enjoyable.

Yes, I know....making your own maps add the the 'adventure' aspect of the game greatly and at least one of you reading this are thinking "Well, in my day...We didnt have that fancy Mapfiend! We made our own maps and loved it!" LOL

"We didnt have these fancy...Video games! We had our own games like..Stare at the Sun!"--Grumpy old man from SNL

If you can get a couple friends of the right level together (or make a pick-up group) then LDoNs are probably the best way to get starter or filler augments until you get better ones.

LDoNs are great for low level groups to pound through a dungeon having a blast. The xp really slacks off after like level 40 or so I think. Also a good place to load up on filler / starter augments until you get better ones.

Cool. I think the message I got after dingin' 17 was to go to those Lost Dungeons.

Is there a portal from POK? Yes...Im relativly teh dumb. Especially about EQ locales at this point.
So whats the best way to get there? Whats the process?

I have a Guild with a few other low levelers but going solo is the most likely thing that will happen.

Makes me ask: Ive read on a chart of spell locations that my lvl 17, 18, 19, and 20 pet spells are found in the Ocean Of Tears.

I did a lil reading...Isnt that place hard to get to? Is that really the only place for those level of pet spells?

The LDoN sound fun. Details about 'em?

There are LDoN camps in Butcherblock Mtns, Everfrost, 2 in the new combined Desert of Ro (one north and one south)<edit> oops, they didn't combine north and south they just got rid of oasis </edit> and one in the Commonlands tunnel.

Each camp has adventures in different themed dungeons, with the entrances to the dungeons elsewhere in the zone or sometimes in another zone completely.

This quest <here> gets you an augment but more important it lets you use the Magus' that are in each camp to teleport from one camp to another. It also lets you use the Magus in the Guild Lobby to go right to any of the LDoN camps. You also need to stone to use a Magus to teleport to Nedaria's Landing to get to Abysmal Sea and Natimbi. You don't have to have the stone on you, once you get it you can keep it in the bank.

So .. to answer your question: do that quest then you can go to the magus in guild lobby and port right to any ldon camp whenever you want afterwards. You do not need the stone to do ldons, only to use the magus ports. Without the stone you will have to hoof it to an ldon camp. Easiest to get to on foot from PoK would be Butcherblock or Everfrost, the other 3 camps are in zones without PoK books going to them.

Ocean of Tears you can get to from a translocator on the docks in East Freeport or Butcherblock Mtns. I don't know if it's hard to get to the merchant there or not but invis should get you there okay I bet.

Well, thx.

Thats was my next question - the Brotherhood.

So Eny Windancer in Greater Faydark is the first person I should talk to? Cuz I'll hoof it there as soon as Im off work here, lol. (I can freely post during the day)

But yeah, that sounds like what I should complete first before I look to lvl'ing up further. Thx

Not unless you're a wood elf magician ..

You need to speak to someone in your home town OR an NPC in Mtns of Rathe or West Karana. Talk to them and follow the text prompts until they are done. Then go to any ldon camp and talk to the camp leader and take the pop quiz (HINT: just say Farstone Magic for shortcut to get reward) and boom, you have your adventure stone. This is assuming that SOE fixed the quest. It was broken for a while.

Reading the quest outline, I did speak to the first d00d already. It was the guy in CR thats sittin in a chair by some merchants. Im going to find Vual Stoutest in Bblock Mtns. to advance the quest.

I think I can speak with him...?

Farstone Magic shortcut eh? I'll try it :)

you are in the right place. stay in cresent reach and do all the quest.

if you manage to get some coin up, search the bazzar for hit point and intellegance items in that order.

the old world zones are deserted and the quests there are in serious need of erasing and rewriting. as far as lost dungons of norath....forget about it. not alot of people group, and unless you have some real life frinds to play with, or you triple or quad box your own group, your not going to find a group for them.

the low and mid level game IS cresent reach now. you will find those hot zones fairly empty too. so, dont sit around wondering if you could do better. your in the right place, and the cresent reach starting areas are as good as it gets.

as a caster, and in this order, your priority for stats should be
hitpoints
hitpoints
hitpoints
mana regen items
mana items
intellegance items
resist stuff last.

the monsters outside of antonica are just going to hit harder and harder. eventually to the point where they can kill you with one round of melee if you dont have decent hit point gear. they will also have more and more hitpoints too. here will come a time when even your earth pet can no longer tank anything unless you kill it fast. dont feel bad though, other pet classes have it worse.

join a guild as soon as you can. you can go to the guild lobby in POK, there is a message board in that zone where guilds advertise for players. it is a good place to start. and when the death penalty gets to the point where you loose an hours worth of experience, the guild lobby will be your best frind. there are NPCs in there that will summon your corpse from anywhere in the game and there is usually a cleric in there doing rezzes. it would be a good idea to bind there also when the exp loss gets significant to the point your time would be better spent begging for a rez than fighting more monsters.

its funny. the guild lobby was obviously added to assist players in getting their corpses and rezzes more convienently due lower player numbers and a lack of grouping, and even recognizing the need for this, SOE is still sticking to their guns about making group orientated content knowing there isnt a whole lot of people actually grouping. especially in the low and mid level game.

by god im gona keep making green pacers no matter how many i dont sell........

Thx, Shadow

But im confused on one aspect-The Adventurers Stone

Id like to complete this unless it isnt worth my time at all. But, can I do it all from and around CR? Dont I have to go to Bblock Mtns. to speak with d00d to advance the quest?

Others may think youre disenchanted with EQ because of some of the points you've made, but I see youre coming from the angle of what makes some games both popular and fuctional as well as worth your time, so I for one know what youre saying.
EQ's been around for awhile. Hehe, Im sure theres many at this board who've 'heard' of a creation known as EQ2 but havent quantified it yet, lol.

How are the numbers for EQ2? Arent there more subscribers to EQ1 still? Dunno.
But as we were talking about, I dont like being the only one in a zone if the reward for said quest is 'gimp' (did I use that right? hehe)

Ive read I have to go to Ocean of Tears for my lvl 17 Earth pet. What do I need Invis for once im there? I dont think I wanna go there, lol.

If you can get some help, plane of knowlege has some quested items that are good for a mage or int caster.
Look up the, using the words Fine Antique in the item search. It is to the left on the menu list.
Lot of the mobs maybe difficult for your level, hence the help.

As others have stated, TSS zones are perfect for gear, and Ldon;s as well.
Seek out the spiderling silk prices in bazaar to see how you can make a quick pile of plat. (Well quick for your level.) What server are you on?

If you are enjoying Crescent Reach and don't want to be alone in zones you should just follow that levelling path.

Crescent Reach will lead you to Blightfire Moors then to Goru'kar Mesa. If you do many of the quests you will be well-equipped and level 50. If you save your platinum from the trash-mobs (i.e., vines, teeth, pancreas of specific types) you will have a sizable amount of coin.

Don't get me wrong I love the old zones --but based on what you have said about what you like to do you might enjoy the newer path more.
