That sounds kinda gimp for 66. I don't think you have all the best gear. High end cultural gear should put you way way over 6k hp unbuffed.

Aside from that you should be focusing more on AC and Avoidance and Shielding and other mitigation effects since you're a tank class. Generally, until you reach 2k AC you should count 1 point of AC on gear equal to 5 points of HP.

In my opinion a level 65 tank can't claim to be well geared unless they have 8k hp and 1800 ac unbuffed (that's not even top end, back in PoP days a top tank would have 10k / 2k unbuffed). Look for AC augs and get all 3 Dain seals for the avoidance boost.

Depends on what he's talking about. Is he "well geared" in terms of being able to tank for a group? Certainly. Is he "well geared" for raid tanking? Nope.

It's not like all the group content in the game for mid 60s got harder retroactively since PoP. If 10k/2k was a "top tank" in PoP, then his hp/ac should be just fine for tanking content he's likely to need to tank in a group.

If he's in a situation to tank anything that he can't physically tank with those values, he'd know it and not need to ask the question here. As far as group content, the actual melee damage rates for mobs hasn't really increased since PoP (and in many cases is lower in that level range). What has increased is the number of proc type effects. And higher AC actually doesn't help much against that (cause it's avoidance based, not mitigation and you can't increase that with gear). In terms of AC at this moment he should be aiming at around 1.7kish. Beyond that, it starts getting *very* expesive, and at least at his level, the value in relation to cost isn't that great. He's already likely above the ac cap against most things he's going to tank. Believe it or not folks used to tank at that level when 1.5k was a nearly impossible level of AC to reach. A level 65 mob is pretty much a level 65 mob in terms of AC. There's been some increase, but not that much...

Obviously, adding more HPs is always good, but don't kill yourself or your bank doing it. I'd also point out that right now there are some serious deal breaks at level 68 (gear that's required level 68 and thus sells cheaper then inferior gear that's available to lower levels). Look at the bazaar and plan out your purchases in advance. Also, don't be afraid to take some time off to grind some AAs. The difference between a tank with his defensive AAs and one without is worth more then what you could likely buy to increase your gear no matter how much money you have.

Indeed, as gbaji touched on, I wouldnt stress too much on those upgrades if you plan on moving up in the levels fairly soon. 68 holds a lot of gear with that level requirement as well as level 71. Putting too much effort into gear for your level now would be pointless unless you plan on staying at 66 for a good while.

Your hp isnt the best for your level, but it shouldnt really be any worse than average. I'm curious what your AC is as well, because it is just as important as the HP, no question.

I'll just advise again against spending too much effort/pp on upgrading at the current level if you will be leveling more soon, you've got fair enough gear, i believe, to get you higher up in levels to where more gear options are open to you.

And defensive AAs do in fact make all the difference in the world, I attest to this, its all that got my pally by for a while with some seriously bad gear, and still does that with some so-so gear.

I couldn't begin to tell you what is gimp hp at any level. lol I don't even remember what I was at that level. I just know I worked toward AC, Avoidance and Shielding. Max your stamina and defensive aas, but your mitigation is what will make you the better tank than hp. The higher your mitigation the less you have to be healed, the longer you stay alive, the happier your cleric and group are....see how nicely that flows!

At 75, I have 16.6 hp with no raid gear to speak of (we play the group game), mind you that is with max buffs and a campfire, and 900+ aas. Seems like it is 10k+ unbuffed I am thinking. While hp is the basic guideline that many people use to judge a tank, ask any good cleric what is more important and he will tell you mitigation in reality is worth well more than hp numbers.

It's true what they're saying. AC and Avoidance and Shielding and defensive AA will help tanks live longer than HP. Stop looking at HP as the glory stat and start looking at what makes a tank a TANK.

The Dain aug you get by looting and turning in a seal from each of the 3 Dain monster missions has great Avoidance and AC and stats.

The Serpent' Charm is an easy charm to build up and also adds Avoidance and Stun resist along with AC and stats.

Hotzone augments - AC aug, CT aug, Old Seb aug.

DoN augments - They sell +10ac augs at DoN merchants that go in Head / Arm / Hand / Feet slots.

Don't forget there're Tribute effects that add AC and HP too.
