What i love about EQFollow

I have read numerous threads thru the months about why EQ is failing. I however still love this game and have done so since 'ruins of kunark' came out. some of the things i love about this game are as follows:
1. The 'unending' aspect of the game.. no matter what lvl toon i am playing, whether or not i have a group, and doing a quest, looking for a new piece of armor, etc.. there is Always something new to do or see.
2. I have made some really great friends on this game.. i have met quite a few in person over the years, in fact, i met my husband in blackborrow back in 2002.. we grouped together for two years, met, and got married. three year anniversary is in sept.
3. no matter how many jerks you find in the EQ population, there are always good people to make up for them..the jerks on EQ i stay away from just like i do the ones in RL.. the good people i cultivate friendships with just like in RL.
4. The fact that you can control what you get out of the game.. i could sit around and complain that i cant get a group at low lvls.. or i could start a guild ( which i did) looking for low lvl people that have a hard time finding groups and now i never lack for groups high lvl or low.
5. I still after all these years get the same relaxation from playing the game as i did when i first started.. yes there have been some changes, and not all of them have been great ( in my opinion) but the wonderful thing about EQ is i can stay away from most of the content and changes i dont like, and utilize the ones i do.
6. It still amazes me to this day how this game compares to Pong (which was my first game) lol... the graphics may suck to some, but to me it is an awesome thing that i have a game to play that looks great, and works.. by that i mean how it keeps up with what spells do what.. how hard youre hitting a mob, i mean my gosh.. the thought that went into this game.. and how it keeps going after all this time is amazing.
Lastly, i love EQ for the memories old and new that it gives me..there may not be as many people playing now as there were when i first started, but i do my best to help the Newbies so they will love the game and stay and keep it around a long time..

Awesome post ji, I couldn't agree more.

Sure, everyone gets frustrated at times in this game. The great part about EQ is that when these frustrating times hit, you have many options and choices to reverse it (And if unsure, I always consult Alla lol). I started around the release of Kunark, taken some breaks along the way. I have played many other games but you know what???? I ALWAYS come back to EQ. I'm sure I will be playing the game until it comes time to retire EQ. I am a casual player now-a-days and there is soooo much content out there that I may never reach it all lol. That's just plain awesome in a game.

I love this game, I love the people in the game, I love the content and versitility of this game, I love the interaction of the game, I love the ease of use in the game... Wow, imo, no other game compares to EQ in whole. Sure, there may be better graphic games, better animation, better content....but in whole EQ still keeps me coming back.

Awesome thoughts there and thank you for sharing all the positive you have gotten from EQ. I have played for over 7 & 1/2 years myself and dont plan to leave either.

I agree, the fun continues even after 7 years (and I almost never raid anymore).

I logged in last night for the first time in over a year and it was nice to run into old friends and have a look around. The shear size of the game and the wonderful lore is what I have been missing.

I think the lower quality graphics help EQ. It really makes you focus on the stories and the content of the game and really allow you to get emersed inside the world.

The old pen and paper games had the best graphics of all time: your imagination.

Believe it or not, I actually appreciate some of the "grind" associated with the game. After I have had to do something repeatedly in the same zone or in a zone circuit, I become familiar with it to a point that helps "suspend reality" as a movie does. I recognize so much of Everfrost and Great Divide that I can see it in my minds eye. It's like reading so much about a foreign country that you feel you've actually been there before.

I love the movement in the game. It feels fluid to me. I love the fact i can still play at 800 X 600 resolution and have it look good. I love the game mechanics of the game.

EQ was my first and the one i will never forget. i come back from time to time just because the world is hands down the best one in the mmo industry in my openion. each zone has a distinct flavor. each city just crys....home. the cities are great. the characters are great.

sadly, being i dont have time to commit to raid, and there is little to no grouping going on, the gameplay itself drives me away in very short order.

but even after i leave, i know ill be back in another year or so just to visit....home.
