Black screen after choosing server ? Follow

#1 Jul 02 2007 at 10:22 AM Rating: Default
Hello, I have just purchased "The Anniversary Edition" of Everquest and signed up for a month, upon installing the game everything seemed to be working perfectly. ( Even the patch went through without a single error )Though when I finally got to the server select screen it will freeze directly after I push the button to log in... Meaning that I have never been able to even see the create a character screen..

If I have not explained the issue deeply enough then help me do so...

I am running a AMD athlon XP 2200+ PC with Windows service pack 2 ( It is a custom PC that I have used to play WOW/COH/NWN Ect with a breeze ) it runs on 512ram ( A gig now ) it has a 256mb geforcefx5500. 1.80 ghz and has ran every other game I've played perfectly...

I'm really not one to know about computers so please be patient with me, just recently I have tried adding every port in the book related to Everquest with still no avail... If anyone can figure out what would be causing such an issue please let me know...=(

On the server select screen (I think it's the server select screen??) you are given an option to do a 'complete file check'.

Try that. Also make sure any firewalls are turned off.

ps: you're system is fine and I don't see anything that should be incompatible.

It is the patcher that has the complete file check.

A couple years ago I had a smiliar problem for a week or two. To correct it, at the black screen, I would switch between windowed mode <alt><Enter> and back again and then I could see no problem. It went away after the next patch. I never knew what caused it.

Just recently had the same problem as you are currently having. Solution for myself, was to turn off the firewall totally when playing EQ. Problem solved.

Oddly enough, after searching the net for the latest drivers and turning off every single notion of a firwall I have found the root of the problem..

It turns out that when I disable sound from the none-Ingame options I can play just find, but every time I enable it the game refuses to responde, forcing me to hold the power button as ALt=Ctrl=Del will not even work...
