What is the death penalty for EQ?Follow
ONe of the reasons that I left EQ was the death penalty. Corpse runs and eperience loss became too frustrating. What has changed over the years? What is the current death penalty? How is it different from that of WOW? Are there still "manadatory" corpse runs?
Corpse Runs have been gone for a couple years. In the Guild Lobby, there are NPC that will summon your corpse (with gear). I think the most expensive summoning "stone" is about 200pp depending on charisma. Most of the time there are PC clerics selling rezzes in the Guild Lobby.
There is still the loss of experience.
If there isn't a cleric in the group, I know a bunch of people will summon to the Guild Lobby and get a rez there. With the advent of campfires, it is easier to get back to your group.

think the most expensive summoning stone is 296pp. Not sure if charisma affects the price though but considering that that you will probably be naked when purchase it...
Unless you play a ranger, the cost of summoning your corpse every once in a while isn't worth mentioning. You'll still lose (a lot) of experience when you die, but there is almost always a cleric available to rez you in the lobby, meaning you get 96% of what you lost back.

They were released with The Buried Sea expansion. Essentially the campfire is like a marking stone you can put down at your current location of business and then you or or group members can port directly to it (as long as they have TBS expansion).
Similarly there is a Guild Banner which works about the same way but is for raids (have to have 16 people in your guild in the zone before you can put the banner down).

The Guild Lobby is a mini-zone in the Plane of Knowledge. The entry to it is from a large marble buidling just past the dwarven Darkanvil blacksmiths and forges.
In the back of the Guild Lobby are the 2 doors that will zone you into your Guild Hall, if you are a memeber of a guild. Your buffs timer stops in Guild Hall, there are tradeskill stations, your very own private merchant, bankers and access to the Guild Bank and Guild Tribute Master.
The Guild Lobby zone in inside the Plane of Knowledge looks just like the entrance to the new Bazaar and Barter Halls. I still get them confused if I don't take a quick peek at my map downloaded from mapfiend.com that has it labled.

As of yesterdays patch Guild Lobby also suspends the timer count on your buffs.

Just remember to not keep all of your money on your toon...doing this will cause you to beg from other players in the guild lobby for money for a soulstone. This has happened to me and it sucks =)

Not to be snarky, but if you were low enough level to actually have all your money on your toon and still walk, you probably really didn't need to get a rez. But that's my old school opionon on the subject... ;)
