Whenever I tried to use the PLer for actually DSing the mob down or killing the mob the rest of the way, the PLee's would never get xp. I never liked that method. I always let the PLee take aggro and take all the hits and do the kill shot. It's slower but the xp is guaranteed.
Normally you do have to do 50+% damage. The rules for EQ though are that normal DS damage is attributed to nobody. Thus if the lowbie does 1 damage and the DS does all the rest they are actually doing 100% of the atributable damage.
Revers DS on the other hand attribute all the damage to the one being hit on. I persoanlly prefer this method, pulling smaller groups. 3 at most and that way the lower toon is getting all devensive and offensive skills. Yeah theres a higher chance the lowbie will die, but your PLing them, and reverse DS are primarily a clric thing so chances are you can rez him.
