Alright so when I stoped playing it was in about 2005 and I had a 60 cleric with around only 200 AA's
I have lost that account but have started up a new one and I am wondering...
This time around Im going to be playing to go mostly down memory lane and to play alone maybe with some close friends
So my question is...What is now the Best solo class to take down old named mobs and maybe even some recent Names
no dou, but solo, mostly want to go back and see the old giant bosses fall to my hand alone this time
Any suggestions?
and if you could include why that class is now powerful or really good at soloing

How did you "lose " your account? If you do not know the login name and pasword, SOE can get that for you.
Necros are, imo (never even having played one

Necromancer or Magician for pre Planes of Power boss soloing.
They require different tactics but those two classes are easy to level up solo and can take old bosses with average to low end gear.
Also, it is ok to say you sold your account. You might get flamed but just ignore it.

I am another who needs a refresher. Mind you I will be creating both a necro and mage, but what of the beastlord, good solo'ers there as well no?
A Beastlord is too gear dependent when compared to a Necromancer or Mage. Just what I have observed from experience.

Necros are the best regular soloers.
However, when taking down old raid bosses- clerics are awesome. They have heals and the RDS is a big help. There is a cleric that has soloed AoW etc..
Anyway, don't get ahead of yourself, your just starting again and you already want to solo old world raid content? All the people I've known to do this have been in raid gear with or close to max aas.
In conclusion: Gear and AAs matter more than class.
