On my hard drive on my computer under Sony\Everquest\Voice\default is a large collection of mp3 files that I have never heard in game. What are they? What are they for? When would I hear them?

certain zones or events have music while you are there. My favorite is North Qeynos, at the gate of the castle. once you step into the newbie yard, the music fades away.
There is also the food tradeskill buildings (around the brew barrel) southeast from the main/stone/big bank in PoK. when you get near, you hear the sounds of a bar or kitchen and people singing.
Everybody who has played EQ should have the NPC merchant & banker interaction theme memorized too. that sweet harp and chime tune.

of course you need to have sound on, and environmental sound & effects on also.

They are voice macros, refer to the thread at https://everquest.allakhazam.com/forum.html?forum=1;mid=1180899589119378776;num=2;page=1

It's not music. It's voices. The files are broken by race and gender. They are voices that say things like; "attack", "retreat", "follow me", or simply the sound of someone laughing. There is no music in this file.

In case you skipped my other reply, since you were replying at the same time, they are Voice Marcros. Press Ctrl+V in game to play with them, test them out, and refer to the other thread I link in my previous post for how to add them to your own macros or hot keys.

So, We've come full circle. I see the Voice Macro, but when I click on it nothing happens. Same with Ctrl V, when I press Ctrl V nothing seems to happen. No window pops up, nothing. If that is what these are for it doesn't seem to be functioning. At least not on my computer. Any ideas?

You missing some expansions? I don't remember if it's locked out if you don't have which ever one it came with or not, but I believe it is. OoW / DoN / DoD, one of those three is when it appeared, I forget which one.

I'm assuming you clicked the EQ button - Actions - Voice macros also, since the shrotcut (Ctrl+V) may not be what you have assigned for the Voice macro window.

A final reason, is the UI you are using may not have the Voice macro window defined in it. If you're using a custom UI, try switching to the default.

I'm using default UI. An expansion issue sounds most likely. Anniversary is in the mail. I'll install it when it gets here and see what happens. Thanks for all the info.
