looking for a cleric duoFollow

My wife has found that she likes cleric, so I am tryin to figure out what would work out best for exp and also later on doing some of the old content after we hit level cap.

The classes I like are Bard, shadowknight and paladin. I am thinking bard would be the fastest leveling but dont know how well it would work not having a taunt. Maybe Necro or beastmaster but I dont know how well they would do for duo stuff later on.

Any help would be awesome.

Out of the ones you have named, Shadowknight seems to be the most logical choice.

They have snare, can single-pull semi-efficiently, are better dps than paladins, and quite surprisingly, you can level them quickly.

A beastlord would semi-work... they get slow and such, but the lack of aggro and tanking ability of a non-raid-geared beast would definately slow you down as you moved higher into the level ranges.

Good luck with your duo.

I second the motion for Shadownight.

Snare is VERY important.
Unsnared mobs tend to run and bring back lots of angry friends.

hm... old world, and a cleric plus x...

SK sounds good indeed. much better than a Pal at least...

Bard I would put rather to the end of the list (poor aggro control and a healer is a "no go" imho).

but Necro is an option I personally would favour over the SK. high DPS, can also single pull + Snare, and the cleric can pet heal if needs be. and in some situations, the cleric can very well tank himself :)

Of the three that you listed, I would vote for Shadow Knight as well.

Add my vote for Shadowknight of the 3 you listed. Snaring and FD are so nice to have.

The beastlord would probably be my personal choice if I could choose from any class. You get the slows, DPS, and buffs that stack nicely with cleric buffs. However, as others mentioned: no good aggro abilities, no snare, and it is a leather class.

Shadowknight out of your listing...Beastlord as a second...

...Bard doesn't seem like the best combination with a cleric, and a pally offers too much redundancy in the way of spells and such.

Beastlord or Shadowknight.

Personally I would choose a Beastlord for slows.

Ideally, you would play a Shaman / Shadowknight

Beastlord would work, but you'll still have the snare issue. Clerics can root and nuke so you have opportunities to stop running mobs until the BL gets Pet Hobble AA.

The other issue I see with a BL and Cleric is agro. BL's really only have their slows to make hate. Cleric heals could, frequently, draw the mobs ire.

Cleric/Ranger could work too.

While I agree, SK sounds like the best fit, there are lots of possiblities.

Hobble and fetter aa's takes care of the snare issue for beastlords. Lot's of places the mobs don't run that you can level and work on getting those aa's. I leveled a beastlord and cleric and with the appropriate aa's, the beastlord can tank just fine, for experience...at least until level 70 or so.

Slows, incapacitate, and FoL work fine holding aggro with a BL.

Works fine for holding agro, but doesn't go far in getting agro back. BL's have spells that **** off the mob, but poorly timed heals will often **** of the mob more. BL's not being a tank class have no real hate building ability and certainly no snap agro.

Clerics, however, will likely have nearly as much HP and probably more AC then the BL and can withstand some damage....even tank as needed. Smiley: smile

Edit:
Don't get me wrong. I think a BL is a great duo option and don't mean to say they can't tank perfectly fine - they can. Just pointing out some of the issues between giving up tank hate for BL utility.

I actually Duo a cleric and BEastlord ( mid 50's right now) and the cleric is the tank. And we do quite well. Smiley: grin

Granted, we are fighting undead ( veksar) and they do not run ( no need to snare/root) with the beast slowing and the dps between the two on undead is awesome. I dont know how they would do in other non-undead areas, but it works for them.

At lower levels it was a little harder with no snare, but the cleric root worked well enough.

clerics can get a snaring item. or rather, clinging darkness. regent symbol of innoruk( or however u spell his dam name). make your cleric - dark elf, inny worshipper, shamans -troll, inny worshippers. an enjoy. an as for your duo... id go SK, or even shaman for supreme buffins. an if u pick shaman. the 2 of u can do your neck quest together. =)

Bard does not have a lot of dps and are tricky to play with cleric.
I would give necro or BL a go.
I see my warder taunting the mob allowing my bl to back off and heal or throw.
Speaking of non snare, there are lots of snare potions out there for your bl or cleric to throw at the mob.

Cleric Hot will not get a lot of aggro, its only when you have more than one mob that you really have to worry.

I tested out a cleric/pally and a cleric/sk combo. I found the c/p combo to be very boring and lacked the abilities that i needed. I moved on to the c/sk combo and loved it, it was much more efficient anf enjoyable, with a larger range of skills to play with

Of those 3, I agree with everyone else and say Shadowknight. However, if you want to try something different, I'd say mage. My cleric/mage combo does very well with pet tanking.

If you actually want to play together and not have one be leech while other does work then SK really best choice. Bard or Necro would end up becoming the dude too easily and cleric just sits and watches one or the other kite.
