I looked in to doing the Overthere quest for this ITEM

Worker Sledgemallet
MAGIC ITEM LORE ITEM NO TRADE
Slot: PRIMARY
Skill: 2H Blunt Atk Delay: 50
DMG: 6 Dmg Bonus: 69
Effect: Overthere (Combat) at Level 50
WT: 3.2 Size: GIANT

But as a good Race its very difficult to do is there a good race equivelent?
If there is what would the item be called?

If all you are looking for is an item that helps you gate I would suggest the potion made by Shammy's, Philter of Major Translocation. They cost about 100pp to make and I go thoguh about 10 a month on average.

That's the only item I'm aware of that melee can use so you are in for a lot of faction work. Depending on your class/level this could go pretty quick though.

Sorry mate but as far as I know there is no good equivalent of the OT hammer.
But if you have TSS you could always /claim that gate stick. Only problem is the 1 hour and 12 minute timer between uses.

This quest can be managed by anyone, the most effective trick I have seen is unlocking the Evil Eye Enchanter shroud up through way of xping as the Imp Wizard Shroud. The Evil Eye Chanty shroud has a 36 second charm that will allow you to make the foreman(turn in npc) a pet, and then simply hand the jade in.

Caution is advised though, seeing as the Dragoons will normally be hot on your tail in very short order after you cast your charm.

I would recommend searching the forums for similar topics, as several people including myself have explained effective ways of obtaining the hammer (my explanation involves all the nitty gritty details on a quick, rather painless way of unlocking the mentioned shroud.)

My SK is KOS to VS, I've been shrouding to a 70 goblin rogue to turnin sarnak bezerker tails (can't remember their name)to Rottgrime. Before I potentially waste anymore time, can anyone confirm that faction hits obtained while shrouded actually count?

Thanks

Any class without Gate should really have a way to get the hell out of Dodge when needed.

Of course you can (and darn well should) carry Philter of Major Translocations but you can't use those during combat usually.

It's definately a good idea to keep one of those instant gate potions on hand for the real emergencies, but they run 1k a pop so that's not an every time use thing.

The OT hammer is most convenient for leaving a camp when group is breaking up or trying to save your hide if things get nasty. It's not so useful if you're all alone with either no mobs to use it on or with only mobs that will probably kill you before it can proc.

Another option is the Thurg gate potion, which is an easy repeatable quest for a 10-second gate to Thurgadin. It's pretty cheap and very easy, and gives you another option of places to port to.

If you have an object/spell to summon an Eye of Zomm, you can target it (use 3rd person) and hit it with the hammer. Be warned that you might go through a few Eyes before the hammer procs since a single successful hit will kill the Eye.

My old bard had a Singing Steel Helm (clicky summon Eye) and, with that and the OT hammer, had a fairly good means of Gating out from anywhere.

Also works when you /duel one of your groupmates (preferably one who can then leave by gating when the hammer procs)...

True that. But I did a lot of soloing. Smiley: grin

Actually, I mostly remember it from when I was a wee-lvl 53 bard running to Sebilis daily to check and see if the Undead Bard was up (another trick with the Eye of Zomm). If he wasn't, I needed a way out since a run to upper zone-out at lvl 53 in the Velious era was a quick death waiting to happen.

if you get a chanter to charm foreman (possibly bard as well) you can do turn in no matter what your faction

As I recall, you have to charm the skeleton yourself. You must be amiable for the turn-in and charmed mobs (controlled by others) con as indifferent. However, charmed mobs con as amiable to their "owners".

Which is why people are using the Evil Eye skin to charm the skeleton themselves for the turn-in.

I've done this over the years on at least 6 toons.... including ones that already can gate. Why? So I can bind in a convienent place, use Hammer, pop back to OT/POK to sell or get buffs and then gate back to my fight area or camp.

If you are level 30+, just level up on OT, collecting the braids all the while. You cant use the hammer til level 50 anyway.

Then, you should have some faction built with the outpost if you havent ruined it by killing things in KC. Just watch it. I think it's VS faction that counts.

At level 50, buy a DE potion, use it to go to Capt Rotgrime and turn in the Braids. I did it this way on my Dwarf Zerker. I think it took 60 or so braids to make him warmly? so that he could do the turn in. (12-15 sets of 4) The DE potion let me use the bank right there also.

With Chanter, I used the Charm trick. Worked well...but he then immediately wants to kill you ....charm doesnt last long at that level. Turn in, then RLH.

With my Gnome SK.. he was indiff so braids were a good option but time consuming...I used a DE pot and the faction necklace from Icewell. That necklace is awsome for faction in many places but... now my SK is KOS in Icewell. heheh

But thats ok...the Hammer is a super thing to have and I dont have to keep going to Thurg (and farming supplies in Velks) or buying gate pots. I have it on bandolieer so it is fast to get out... and frequently it procs in one or 2 swings. other times, it can take a while...like a full minute. It's not really an 'emergency' device. (and I've since farmed more necklaces for use in DON faction! :) )

The absolute easiest method to obtain an OT Hammer is to either loot (not so easy) or buy in Baz "Puppet Strings". This item is all/all and has a number of charges of Allure that will allow anyone to charm the skellie npc for turn-in. I would suggest you have a chanter Tash the npc skellie first to lower his resistance - It's not fun to have your charges of Allure resisted.

Agree with puppet strings, I did the faction work on my monk, but said ***** it and got the strings on the SK.

Is it quicker to get 7 AAs and by origin?

I have the PoP neck gate talisman but usually end up using gate potions as I am lazy.

I'd debate on what the easiest method would be (the amount of PP you have to toss around affects this opinion I would say.) seeing how you can unlock the evil eye enchanter shroud in roughly an hour or even slightly less if you really are on the ball about it.
