Video Issue - Daytime sky is redFollow

#1 Apr 27 2007 at 9:18 PM Rating: Decent
Ok. This is hard to explain of finding about this in mere words.
I first noticed this in Quenos Hills when I logged into my Level 18 Beastlord, and noticed a new sky texture. Blood red.
I was thinking, since I had checked "The Buried Sea" when I was installing the game files, but didn't have the game and unchecked it, it was somehow reading the game's files and has replaced the default blue sky.

Was also thinking it might of been implimented before the release of the latest EP.

I asked SOE and they claim that the latest EP shouldn't be causing the issue, and it's an issue with my video card.
He told me to delete a few files but I didn't have a chance to explain it was a clean install from the Patcher.
I did it anyway, didn't fix it.

Tried reinstalling to remove the files from the latest EP. That didn't fix it.
Tried setting my system video options from 16 to 32 bit. THAT didn't fix it.
Updating my video card drivers won't fix it, because I already have the latest version.
I also want to the Options out of the ingame part of the game and checked my settings there. Everything looks OK.

I've tried everything. There's no excuse for the sky to be red instead of blue. This only happens when playing my char. The char selection screen, the sky was blue.

The sky is red in several zones for everyone. It's part of the Everquest lore right now.

Yep... after Mayong Mistmoore became a demi-God (Demi-Plane of Blood), blood tainted the sun (Hence Prophecy of Ro). It's really quite interesting, to read the background.

So this is normal!? All of this time I was thinking my video card was going to explode. Because yesterday I was hearing these strange grinding sounds coming from my computer.
I have asked twice in NewPlayers of who else is having this with no response.

So this is normal. Does anyone know when it will go BACK to normal? Or stay like this forever?
And is this why typing in /time it shows the game's year being 3244?

Heh... 'cause that's the year in the game? *shrugs*. They don't follow our time in-game. I think 1 hour is 24 hours in there? Or something... can't remember entirely. But yes, the red sky is normal. Some zones, it'll be red, others, blue.

Unknown and does it matter? if it bothers you only solution is to buy a black and white monitor :-)

Lore is part of he game, and as such sometimes things change.

BTW on which server do you play?

All my chars are on the Stromm server.
And does anyone know when the sky will be blue again? Or will it stay like this forever?
I've seen a red sky, going from Quenos, all the way to Cresent Reach(which is pretty impressive for a Level 18). With Brightfire Moors being the only exception, with it's normal cloudy, gloomy sky.

Maktub answered your question, we dunno when it'll change back. And, if it bothers you so much... don't buy a black and white monitor, just turn off the sky model.
