Mr. Clifford,

First, allow me to thank you for your reply. Even if you are someone spoofing Daniel Clifford, at least you provided the courtesy of a real, actual, answer.

Unfortunately, it does not look like you took the time to review the history of this request, as your answer, not to mention the many lies your CS has told me, has been refuted repeatedly. You also, instead of being grateful I was willing to send you $400-$500 at a pop on the off chance I was still playing EQ at the end of a year's time, had the effrontery to suggest I fork over up to $1,000 on the off chance I was still playing at the end of two year's time. The attitude is breathtakingly insulting. That's not the way to treat a customer. Shame, shame.

At this point I have not logged on since before the Christmas holidays. Maybe since before Thanksgiving, I'm not sure. I have already cancelled one of my five formerly active accounts, and will cancel the second within the next couple of days, so it doesn't attempt to bill my OLD credit card, which while still valid, I no longer wish to use.

I may log in simply to camp my formerly treasured characters in some sentimental locations, but play time is over, due to SOE's policies and attitudes.

You could have had 5 accounts times $100 per year, plus whatever expansions I decided to buy, for the effort of a simple reasonable customer service request. Instead Sony chooses to scam the customers who took them up on their Anniversary account pricing offers. And, no, I didn't have the one shot deal, I had the repeat until I cancel deal. You forcing me to cancel to make any changes is a scam. It's the equivalent of putting a gun to my head and then claiming I voluntarily gave you my wallet.

Now you have 0 (that's Zero, Nada, Nothing, the big Goose Egg) accounts times whatever exorbitant fees you presently charge. And no expansion sales.

No longer yours,

Fallonn

PS This policy extends to doing ANY business with ANY entity related to Sony in ANY fashion. Sony deserves not one penny of my business, an attitude I will repeatedly, publicly, and eloquently express to family, friends, acquaintances, and perfect strangers as long as I have breath left.

Hello Fallonn,

I’m sorry to say that any attempt to modify billing information will result in losing your 5 and 6 year promo plans – the reason being, those plans were only offered for a limited time.

That having been said, you may wish to consider the regular 2 year subscription which is only $199 - $1 more expensive than 2 recurring 6 year promo prices.

Regards,

Daniel Clifford

Mr. Clifford,

How long do you plan to ignore me, and your other customers? How long does SOE plan to stonewall a simple, reasonable request? How about the courtesy of a reply?

Mr. Clifford,

Please see 060225-000551, 060319-000013, 060411-000824, 060517-000949 and 060527-000194. My polite requests are in there somewhere, as are my outraged demands. I have been trying for over 3 months to make a simple change in my billing information that NO OTHER VENDER I DEAL WITH took more than 5 minutes to do. I can not count the lies that I have been told in the process.

I have presently have FOUR accounts active. I want the credit card information changed on those accounts. I DO NOT want them cancelled. I DO NOT want the 5th year and 6th year $99.99 per year subscriptions changed IN ANY WAY.

Fallonn

Best to everyone, but the game's over for me. I will not support a lying crook like SOE any further. How lame can they get?

If you're serious, cancel all of your accounts. I don't say this as a "I hate EQ!" deal or anyhting but, if you honestly feel that they are ******** you over, why let them still ***** you over halfway?

Two are cancelled already. The others will be cancelled as their expiration dates approach, if not sooner.

;)

And because you want to change the billing information, SOE will rescind the anniversay offer that you were willing to pay for, correct? Is that what the problem is?

Yes, most of this forum felt this pain a while back (probably about a year ago). SOE offered a great deal for a number of reasons that allowed us to extend our subscriptions at a discount. Never during the initial offer did they tie the deal into a credit card - the implication was that you signed your account up for the deal. But they had second thoughts (i.e. they wanted more money from us) and decided their way out was to claim that the deal was only good as long as your billing information remained good. Any change to your information or "unsuccessful" billing transaction would remove you from the program. There were even reports at the time that SOE claimed billing attempts were "unsuccessful" on accounts that should have worked.

While I sympathize with the OP whole-heartedly, the time for the mob to unite in order affect change regarding this policy has long passed.

just to play devils advocate since i do not know much about this as i took a year off around the time they made this offer

isnt it possible that they made a blanket rule ( i understand they didnt state this) where it was tied to the credit card so that people wouldnt sell the accounts to someone else who did not deserve the deal?

i know the op said all account info was the same except the numbers on cards so it should still be ok but could that be the reason?

i know grammar and punctuation sucks (well lack of) sorry if it offends you

To me this is a standard examples of why SOE keeps meeting with limited success and Blizzard just owns. Just all the stupid little things.

Given the HUGE differential in player base. you would think you would see threads like this daily on the WoW boards but you just dont.

I think they were quite clear about linking it to our account instead of our billing information:

The 6th Anniversary Promotional Offer was for a 12-month EverQuest subscription at $99.99 (plus applicable taxes), which was to recur annually at the same price unless and until a participant cancelled his or her subscription.

We want to thank you for participating in that promotional program. Due to a technical error, Sony Online Entertainment failed to automatically recur your subscription for account(s) with which you registered for the 6th Anniversary Promotional Offer ("Eligible Account(s)") for an additional 12-month period at the promotional price of $99.99 (plus applicable taxes). As a result, your account(s) closed and you had the option to continue your subscription at the current EverQuest subscription rates. We apologize for the error.

It was after this that SOE really started tripping over themselves, with half of the CSR's implying the original intent of the promotion was to grant the promotion to accounts.

Then they would tell people that SOE records indicate the players "cancelled" their subscriptions. I don't know about anyone else, but every time my subscription period has expired SOE has automatically re-billed me, took my money, and kept my account going. That is, except for only this one time when (it could be argued) they *wanted* our accounts to run out so they could exclude us from this program.

No, I'm afraid not. The offer was quite clear. The deal lasted for all eternity until YOU cancelled. No quibbles about credit card changes, or anything else. At the time of the 5th Anniversary Deal, which most of my accounts were on, you could still go in and edit your credit card information without having to cancel the account. They changed that later, and it doesn't take any stretch of the imagination to figure out it was to create unavoidable artificial "cancellations" so as to get people off the $99.99 annual renewals.

If they had concerns about transfers of ownership resulting in undeserved extensions of the deal, they could have dealt with that without ******** over everyone else who signed up.

Simply a bad faith demonstration on their part. Their word is worthless. Their contract is worthless.

This I don't get...you were willing to pay $100 a year just to camp your characters in sentimental zones? You weren't planing on playing them, just have them sit idle for a year because of virtual memories? For a $100 I'll tell you how to take screenshots in-game...

i am gonna gues that he meant that while his account is still active he is gonna camp them

not that he is gonna pay more for that privilege

Just one reason, along with the rootkit issue on music CD's, that my accounts are now cancelled, that my 2 new monitors are not Sony, that my 2 new DVD writers are not Sony, etc. I had been following the development of Vanguard, but stopped after Sony became associated with it. I never used to check out whose movies I was buying, but now I do.

Things like this can have a ripple effect.

I do the same thing, KEC...Boycotting Sony products altogether...except for eq, I'm still playing and having fun, but no future business with sony products. That's why I know Blue-Ray discs are going to fail...remember betamax?
