Ever wondered why your pet would disappear at nearly full health?

I've been in this situation several times, in the middle of a fight suddenly - *poof* - the fully buffed pet was gone. At first I thougt that it was a bug or that new mobs (post PoR) got a new ability to dismiss pets, but yesterday a friend of mine told me the real reason:

IT'S THE SHROOM !!! Smiley: yikes

Do you have the Freemind Spore Earring (Halloween quest) or the Lunar Fungus (8th anniversary scavenger hunt)? When you have your pet up, you cannot get the shroom as second pet, but you still get the corresponding buff from these items.

The main disadvantage is that if the buff fades (being dispelled by a DoT or elapsing), your pet goes with it. Smiley: motz

Pet classes should think twice before using the shrooms...

Wow, that could be very dangerous. I didn't get the shroom pet for my mage or beasty because at the time they came out, I thought you couldn't have pet and shroom up at the same time. After I heard that you could, I was disappointed I didn't get them one. Now I'm glad I didn't after all.

Thanks for the heads-up!

Indeedy, anything from the Malo line of debuffs will make the shroom *poof* in a second as well...

My shaman has had his pet up and the mushroom regen at the same time. I have zoned many times, losing the buff and not the pet.
Have never been in a situation like the ones described above.

Would you try clicking the buff off and tell us what happened?

Thanks bbot, this is good to know.

I made my husband get the EB mushroom cus he was always bugging me to cast EB on him when needed (he fails to ever have fishscales). He'd be pretty PO'd if the shroom made his, always over-buffed, doggy 'poof'.

Maybe I'll experiment a bit with my Druid's bear familiar (easily dispensible eh).

This is Not accurate.

I constantly Use the shroom earring On my necro when I have my pet up, He never dissapears or anyhting whenever the effect leaves.

Yours(and theres) are just random bugs.

The four times I've had a pet and the Shroom Familiar Effect up on a shaman alt and had a mob land a cast from the malo line on me, the Familiar effect AND pet have disappeared. Sounds awful consistent to me.

So it seems that the pet stays when the effect leaves (by zoning or elapsing), but it disappears when the effect gets dispelled by a DoT...
