I have installed EQ on a laptop for temporary use when necessary. I donwloaded the dx9 to make it work. The grafix are ok, but it doesnt animate. No walking, attacking, sitting, etc. Is this caused by not having the most up to date dx9? If so, anyone have a link to the most current one? I looked for awhile but in my stupidity or ignorance, I missed it and downloaded the wrong one.

Incidently, occasionally I will get the Error 1017 and something about not connecting to the server. The game boots me out several times after getting past the char select screen and also I get ejected when zoning...

Any thoughts here?

I forgot to mention that I have had EQ on this laptop before but had to reinstall the Operating System. EQ worked better on the laptop than my desktop, so I dont think its the system.....

Not enough time to tell ya everything to check atm, but for animations, make sure you have them turned on in EQ Options. Make sure you got the newest video drivers and the newest DirectX 9 also. Also, make sure you don't have any drivers that aren't working under Control Panel - System - Hardware Tab - Device Manager on WinXP.

Yther Ore.

I guess I should have added that the laptop uses windows xp and i am really sure that I downloaded the current dx9. The message i get is "Error 1017:"

I dont really want to reinstall the software, but I will do so tomorrow. I think its something wrong there that the patcher didnt patch. But I dunno.

Again, need your comp specs. Is it a duel core processor? You sure it's DX9 and not DX10? Also, which version of DX9?

it has 1054 ram and 80gb harddrive, uses windows xp. The laptop rn the game before just fine, i had to redo the harddrive. So im thinking that either it didnt load from the software correctly or that the dx driver is wrong

Not trying to be rude here but if you don't post the two most important parts of your comp in reguards to gaming we can't help and this is the last time I am going to ask.

What is your processor and videocard? If you don't know how to find out simply say so and someone will guide you through it. Until we know that your using we can't tell you how to fix it.

The fact that your laptop ran it before means nothing. You wiped your HD and along with it, the drivers for your hardware. Basically, that means your hardware is running at it's bare minimum.

I highly doubt it's a DX problem or you would be getting DX errors or 3d rendering errors.

I'll put money on it being a VPU drivers error or a duel core error.
