Question of Semantics...Follow

#1 Mar 24 2007 at 4:13 AM Rating: Decent
Hi guys :)

I'd like your expert opinion if possible.

A friend and I agreed to have a duel. Just a friendly little thing, but there is a small prize for the winner.

Now, as I'm completely new to EQ, I only have the E2N demo. My friend, a very experienced 75 rogue on full EQ, agreed to come onto E2N to show me the ropes and workings of the game.

Whilst there, the subject of duelling came up and challenges were issued! I accepted the challenge and we tried to duel.

Well, it appears that duels and PK of any kind are not permitted on E2N, although the challenge can be made and accepted.

Now here's the semantics part. My friend logged before me. As she did, a message flashed up saying "Vodgediper has defeated *My Friend* in a duel to the death! *My Friend* has fled like a cowardly dog!"

Folks, even though this is a technicality, does it count as a duel win in your opinions?! Normally I wouldn't even think about this question, but she outright said she fully intends to cheat as much as possible when we duel and she really does mean it!

I've got a screen-cap of the message as evidence to present with my case for a duel win, but what do you guys think? Does this count?

Thanks :)

I don't know really, but it sounds like a great way to give your eq veteran friend much hassle and grief for "losing" to you, no matter what, =)

Would you also count it a win if your 'friend' had gone LD, or had been help up by the phone? Of course it's not a win, you didn't do anything.
