Frustration: A Rant...kind ofFollow

Most of the time, I dont mind soloing. I solo'd my Bst to 60 with 30aa or so before I actually grouped. My 51 Paladin has never grouped with anyone except my girlfriends cleric. My cleric hasnt grouped with very many people besides my girlfriend's SK.

On my server, it is common to see this add.... "Soandso says to General: 75 chanter LFG Or if anyone needs a 70 warr, 70 Pally, 54 druid, 60 necro, 60 bard, or 70 rogue, PST "

Now, I have never been a raider. Frankly I never had the patience or the time for it. So the guilds I have been in were always "family guilds" and that is my current position. I log in and there is almost always someone who needs my toon or whatever, should I choose to accept the mission. But, during the time I ran without a guild, this wasnt the case.

I do see why people get alt-itis and have an account full of mid-level toons and nothing to do. If you look at my account, thats the way it is. Not so much frustration with not finding groups as it is boredom and wanting to play the game from a different viewport.

Not to oversimplify things, but putting the time into finding an active guild that suits your playstyle could completely turn around almost all that ails those who get bored going at it near solo all the time.

Okay. Well I have a few suggestions for you if you're interested. Really all you need to get through the lower levels is a good duo partner for your class. You're a paladin so I'd go with a healer of some type and then just go somewhere and duo and watch for lfg people to come around and if you're already an active group then people might join just for that. Now as people have mentioned the best way to make friends is to join a guild but of course there aren't that many lower level guilds around and if you're anything like me and you can't just casually join guilds and then leave them a few months later then thats out (which is fine cause guilds aren't for everyone).

Your next option would be to make a soloing class to get past the lower levels. There are quite a few classes that can breeze through to 50 even without twinking (mages and necros) and if you have a few platinum to spend then go with a beast which also can solo well early on. And then once in the higher levels look to solo just to kill time but always leave your lfg up. At least then you won't be sitting in the PoK staring at the wall waiting for a group.

Now if you're a paladin at heart and playing something else just seems like a bad idea then theres not alot you can really do just yet with the population so low as it is. So if you just stick it out and wait then hopefully within the next few months Sony will attend to the low population issue and merge the servers again and then you'll have a chance.

Finally if you're up for it you can always at least try and come to my server (The Tribunal) and look for me and I can help you out maybe. You'd have to start from scratch again though which would be a bit of a drag. I've been known to help a few people through the lower levels and get them into the higher ones (although they usually quit the game by the time they're 60 or join a guild and become stronger than me and then forget I exist). But I'd be willing to at least try and help you out. We can't afford to lose anymore players and I'd hate to see you give up without seeing some of the higher end stuff. I have 9 RL friends that play off and on with mains between 30 - 75 but they're all heavy into alts (which is why they're all so low even after years of playing) so I'd be able to line you up with a few grouping options. I play at night though only ( 9pm pst is when I log in usually) so unless you play at roughly the same time then thats out. If you're interested in trying that then make a character on tribunal and post your name on here and I'll watch for you and tell my friends to watch for you and we'll see what we can do.

The game is dying though. It might be a good idea to get out before you become too attached like the rest of us.

You are correct, the game is dying. Here is a different perspective to look at when understanding that fact:

Everything that is given life will inevitably die, me, you, plants, animals ideas, concepts and video games. That does not depress me the slightest, nope. It's just a fact of life and I accept that fact.

Saying that the game is dying is the same as saying that I am dying. It's true, but I look at it differently. I am alive and EQ is alive. They have not pulled the plug and I type this.

It's all a matter of perspective.

Some info about the guild mentioned earlier founded in 2004 by Allakhazam posters...

Allakhazam poster's guild starts to form...
Allakhazam Post

Oh wait, it's not "officially" an Allakhazam guild (name change)...
Allakhazam Post
Another Allakhazam Post

And the guild was born...
GuildPortal Post

You may not recognize many of the names in those old posts, but they had the same ideology as us posting in this thread today. Some of us were pretty new to EQ then and we had a blast growing up in game together. The road was not without its bumps and a few mistakes were made, but you'll still see us around on Povar. We have not been immune to recent months of EQ population decline, however. In fact, there are so few of us old Allakhazam folk left that we're ripe for a whole new generation of Allakhazam posters to come on in and take the reigns! Smiley: wink

Huh, did not know Aude Sapere was an Alla's guild... I might have to think about moving to Povar if Rathe or ABayle get tiring.

Back when I restarted I was considering moving to Povar just because I remember when the Asylum all played there for a bit. But because that had been quite a while before I restarted, I just ended up going back to my old guild on Maelin.

Come on over to Morden Rasp. We are small but then we are usually up for anything.
Aude has guild alliances with others on the server, you could probably join them in a bit if you dont like how small and informal we are. Note: I play eastern time, most folks are around that time zone. We still have a European memeber, or is that two?

Well, make sure you give away some of that stuff I gave you on newbies, or give it back to me before you change servers =p...

I intend to do so. I also plan to still play my Pally on Maelin while playing characters on other servers.

I play the Zek server-Got tired of boxing all the time and the bossy Guild leaders of the guilds I had tried so I started a new guild of which I am the leader. My name is Paniddar and the guild name is Always Faithful which is the Marine Corp motto. We play for fun and are a small family type guild. If your are new or returning to the game there is genrally some on on that will help yah out esp if you are in Canada or in the central time zone. New people are the lifeblood of the game IMO-Paniddar 73 Bard

CANT FIND A GROUP? PICK A GAME THAT ISNT OLDER THEN TIME ITSELF AND HAS NOTHING BUT LVL 75 DOOSHERS. Nobody, Is gonna miss your lvl 35 paladin in his paper mache armor, AGE OF CONAN you reject!
#42 Mar 30 2007 at 6:07 AM Rating: Decent
There are more people than the level 75s that play. I constantly start over on new servers, and it's great fun for a while, before I get kinda tired, and want to do it again. Besides, I just gave Driftwood a bunch of non-paper mache armour, he just hasn't updated his equipment on Alla's.

Besides, who the hell do you think you are?

Nobody has the right to tell someone that 'nobody' will miss them. Absolutely nobody. Given your low number of posts, I'd say you're probably another player on the site that started a new account solely to cause trouble. Every player that quits is missed, because it means that EQ gets smaller every time someone does.

Maybe you and your posse of potty-mouths won't, but I sure as hell would, even though I'm a level 75 doosher.
It's players like the paper mache paladin that make the game what it is.

I think it would be cool if everyone who is bored and frustrated and generally fed up would move to the combine and make a new toon. Why the combine? You won't be too far behind. Still worried about getting a group? Well, I'm only lvl 13, but I promise to go out of my way to help. If we all mass on one server, it would reduce the gap between high and low lvls, more people should equal more range in lvls and groups. I dont know, it's a pretty drastic plan, but it would give everyone a chance to meet new people and hopefully do something fresh (like have a full group in kurns tower =p).

Context is key. One can Rant about Darfur. One can Rant about inequality in the tax system. But when one speaks or declaims extravagantly or violently about a video game, thats ignoRANT. LOL

It was a Family Guy reference.

An episode where Peter is watching TV and Dennis Miller is on and says:

"I don't want to go on a rant here but... <insert long rant with many incredibly long words that no one would ever know the meaning of>"

and Peter staring blankly at the TV says "...what the hell does 'rant' mean."
