8th anniversary scavenger huntFollow

The 7th Anniversary Scavenger Hunt is back as well. I just received it from Gimblak Frozen song in Thurgadin. He offers the free Festive Doll item and free stat food as well (same as the other Anniversary Scavenger Hunt NPCs).

Are you trying to do the quest on a toon thats previously done it in the past?

Don't think its allowing any toon to do a quest again that has been finished before.

nope. i havent even logged on since last wednesday. first time ive even been in the nexus since the patch so there was no way i could've gotten it.

i just did the 6th like 20 minutes ago as well. i got the elixir, but i still cant get the 8th anniv. one to work for me.

/petition will hopefully clear it all up.

Once you zone into the Overthere you will get an emote:

Velnas T'Lav says 'You there! Yes, you! Come find me along the outer walls of the outpost, I have something that might interest you.'

Velnas is located a bit past the first entrance to the town from the PoK stone against the outpost wall.

You say. 'Hail, Velnas T'Lav

Velnas T'Lav says 'Hail Akkusen! I'm glad you've finally found me. I thought you looked like someone that might help me out. Are you Darkgreen]prepared[/Darkgreen to risk life and limb to assist me?'

You say, 'prepared'

Velnas T'Lav says 'I thought as much. In return for your help I'd be happy to give you this potion here. It's got some wonderful benefits to it that I'm sure you'll enjoy. All you need to do is collect a few things for me from around the continent. It's mostly easy and only a little dangerous, I swear. Are you still Darkgreen]interested[/Darkgreen?'

You say, 'interested'

Velnas T'Lav says 'Perfect! As I said I thought you were someone that could help me. I'm sure you'll have fun along the way with this. Here is a bag to combine the items in and a cheat-sheet to help you along in your search. Don't go asking me for any more hints, I won't give them. Return to me once you've gathered all of the items and we'll see how you did. Good Luck!'

Upon getting the quest, you recieve A Collector's Bag or Pouch, can't remember the exact name, and A Collector's Cheat Sheet (2 page book).

Hints:

1) These conflicted strands are a badge of honor.

2) This pouch is crafted from finer things than leather.

3) Weigh your options before seeking these.

4) A crumbling intellect can be a burden.

5) It towers above, but these help it grow below.

6) The rhyme of the mountains.

7) Cursing can be heard whenever this is used.

8) Their bark is the least of your worries

9) Fans the swarming flame.

10) Grown from the seeds of failure.

Zones, Mobs and Item's:

1) Overthere - Any Sarnak - A Collector's Sarnak War Braid

2) Dreadlands - Any drachnid - A Collector's Drachnid Web Sack

3) Lake of Ill Omen - Bloodgill's near Veksar zone in (underwater) - A Collector's Bloodgill Scale

4) Field of Bone - Skeleton's in the pit - A Collector's Brittle Iksar Skull

5) Kurns Tower - Burynai Excavator's - A Collector's Excavator Claws

6) Frontier Mountains - Any giant in the fort - A Collector's Tump Stump

7) Warslisk Woods(sp) - Goblin Witchdoctor's or Soothsayer's - A Collector's Iksar Witch Doll

8.) Firiona Vie - Any drovlarg - A Collector's Canine

9) Burning Woods - Any hornet - A Collector's Fire Hornet Wing

10) Swamp of No Hope - Any froglok in the city - A Collector's No Hope Moss

Put all item's into the bag you were given and hit Combine.

You have fashioned the items together to creat something new: Sealed Collection Bag

Return the sealed bag to Velnas T'Lav.

Velnas T'Lav says 'You found them all? Amazing! Since you've returned so quickly I suppose you'll be wanting the potion I promised you. Well, here you go. Make sure you use it wisely, it should prove to be a great help in your advancement.'

I for one am glad that SoE are not allowing toons to redo the old hunts.

I was too low to hunt for the XP potion when that hunt was going. Now that I am high enough I've been able to get all the items & my potion. BUT I had to battle with level 75's all racing round with their maxed AAs for the rarer drops.

Imagine what it would be like if that hunt was open again to everyone. There'd be more PCs than NPCs in the goblin fort, everyone would have to camp a single mob, rather than the whole fort.

Not everyone reads hint/cheat sites so it's kind of a silly arguement. If they get the quest they'll most likely do it not knowing the reward so you'll still have competition. I've done them all in years past and after the first day or 2 the competion goes way way down. You have a month to do it after all.

I have a LVL 56 Wizard which I completed the Lunar Fungus quest with and sadly to say, I think its crap. You can not have your familiar that helps mana regen, see invis, etc up and also use the Lunar Fungus EB mushroom guy. I have tried to do it and do not get the effects of the second one. if i have the wizard spell familiar up and click the Lunar Fungus it cast then tells me that the spell did not take hold. and of course I dont get the EB effects. I tried clicking the Lunar Fungus first then cast my wizard Familiar spell and it tells me same thing that the spell did not take hold and I only have the Lunar Fungus familiar and none of the effects of the wizard familiar spell. So this was a total waste of time seeing that I have a fishbone earring already. unless they fix it to where we wizards can cast the Wizard Spell Familar then click the Fungus and have the EB effect added to the familiar. If anyone gets it to work please post how you did it as it is not working on Povar Server.

I have everything except the sun revenant veil. Can't get it to drop and can't even find it listed on Lucy or alla.

The veil is a random drop from any Sun Revenant in Scarlet Desert. You'll find the Sun Revenants scattered around the base of the plateau as well as a camp of them on top of the plateau.

You'll not likely find any of the Luclin Scavenger Hunt items yet on Alla's as it new stuff and Railus is probably drowning in submissions right about now.

hmm. I got the Anniversary Quest... Scavenger hunt that is the same as 6th... except in different order, I think. when I returned to Tyla Finnalav in The Nexus, the NPC would not accept my Sealed Collection Bag (found the 10 items and combined). I had also collected a second set for back up; I tried giving items individually and got them back.

Anyone know how to do the turn in for the scholarship potion?

A petition cleared up the issue my 71 RNG had with the 8th anniversary quest.

It turns out for *some* characters that had already done the 6th Anniversary Quest "back in the day" (so to speak) are having issues getting the collection bag/note from the NPC in the Nexus. This will be fixed according to the note I received from SOE support, but they did not put a timeframe on the fix.

Good enough for me. Let's see if it happens. :)

On another note: Found another collector's item in Acrylia Caverns from an enslaved shik'nar while running to Inner AC.

That means there are four 'decoy' drops, then? I'm starting to wonder if perhaps there is another quest somewhere...

Patog phlarg fiend kills: 40, with no drop.

Plerg phlarg fiend kills: 3, with drop.

I don't think it drops off of Patogs.

I got a collector's elemental focus from a fire elemental in twilight sea, and on the fiends I had to go almost to the very back before I got a collector's fiend flesh to drop. Hope this helps people some but oh my gosh the reward is called a Lunar Fungus, it gives an effect similar to enduring breath how truly lame this is.

Red herrings are easy to spot. When I cast Identify on A Collector's Tribal Belt, the Item Lore is: No one would want this.

Pretty much the first mob I killed for each had the collectors item.

Notable exceptions:

Grimlings:
Try the ones in the tunnel to Arcrylia Caverns. 4th mob there dropped the toes. All the ones in the forrest were sans toes for me (although I made 100pp on runes I collected) so I killed a few :)...

Had to kill 5 or 6 Stonegrabbers, head towards the Grey entrance if you are coming from Marus Seru as they are somewhat spread out in the zone.

Sun Revs: Was jumped by a named (was no problem though) on arrival. Had to kill a few on the plateau after that. One from the stone circle place dropped it.

Plergs: try the ones near Shadeweaver's Entrance. First one I killed dropped it.

A Lightcrawler near Seru Sanctus entrance dropped one quickly.

Has anyone found number 6?? A collector's Sun Revenant Veil from Sun Revenants on plateau in Scarlet Desert?? I'm haveing a veery hard time with this one...

I got mine very easily after only three kills from a Sun Revenant at the camp near the tunnel to The Grey. The clue above is misleading as the Collector's item drops I think from any Sun Revenant, not just those on the plateau.

And finally, my hail/turnin bit is fixed,so I too have the Lunar Fungus bit. :)

Another entertaining clicky. I now have three bags of the things. And picking up more, now that I'm running thru Fabled VT every once in a while...

Latest clicky is Orb of Vitality. I love that thing. :)

Apparently, the Fifth Anniversary Scavenger Hunt is up again, too! (See comments at the bottom of the quest.) Quest givers should be outside the home cities, although the Shar Vahl quest giver (Omia Sami) is nowhere to be found...

The 5th, 6th and 7th anniversary scavenger hunts (see links above) are up again too!

I did send an email to the eqteam@allakhazam.com?subject=EverQuest SubmissionEQ a suggestion.

Could all of the Anniversary Scavenger Hunts be added to a single Quest List as well be added to the By Zone tables?

I was given a collector's bag from Kaladim, but then couldn't find the links quickly. I did know this thread had been started when Tyla Filinav first spawned. I can see that additional details have been added.

Again - Thank you everyone for your contributions.
