Heya, I'm thinking about making a bard, what is a good race to be?

Half elf or wood elf seems to be the best bet.

Best balance of relevant stats. Check out the Caster's Realm creation guide.
I had a wood elf bard. Low STA. If I was doing it again and only cared about stats, I'd go Vah Shir or Human. Maybe those new dragon guys... don't know anything about them stat-wise.

Joph is right, but Vah Shir would be best bet, plus they have the best newbie quests, I've ever seen.

apart from that, I thought the days of defining a starting race because of stats are over... only things I would take in consideration nowadays are certain race/deity specific items, or innate abilities (e.g. Hide, Slam, Dragon breath).
@Kupoback: did you give the Drakkin newbie quests a try?

I don't have the two/three latest expansions, so no. But I have gotten my Vah Shir bard up to level 30, so I know there, and when you say stats don't matter, that's true but not, because the first 30 levels, you really notice the effects of stats, and wonder why you didn't put these points here or these point there, until your able to get a decent armor quest.

Casters Realm creation guide is largely useless today.
As far as race, just pick the race you think looks cool or you like the roleplay elemet to. Basic race stats mean so little in the game today as gear will make up any weaknesses in the long run.
