move the whole everquest file...
go to c/program files/sony/everquest

if you have other games under the sony file along with everquest just make a new sony folder on your new computer in the same place...c/program files/sony/and put your everquest folder in the sony folder.

good luck and hope this helps.

That is not all necessary. Just copy all the .ini files with your toons name in them over to the new computer. They will be in your main EQ folder. Off the top of my head I think there are 3 of them for each toon.

There are 2 files to move:

charname_servername.ini
UI_charactername_servername.ini

So if my character was Anexkahn on the Povar server, the files i need to move are:

Anexkahn_Povar.ini
UI_Anexkahn_Povar.ini

Also if you use a custom UI you will want to move those files as well... just move the whole custom directory under \everquest\uifiles\

If you want your trader prices to move:
bzr_charactername_servername.ini

If you want your Buyer Buy Lines to move:

BART_charname_servername.ini

also if you copy and paste any large complicated file, like a game, it will not work cause of Registry problems, so basically dont give people bad advice if you know nothing about computers or software, thanks.

EQ may be large and complicated program but it doesn't do anything to registry other than its own ini files. As long as all files are kept in proper places (most at root level with EQ program) you can copy and move them around to your heart's delight. You will need to update or replace shortcuts when you do this though.

Originally I had EQ on C drive but moved it to E drive when I replaced the C drive and it has been running fine for a couple years since.

I have transferred my whole eq file to 4 or 5 different computers over the years... desktops and laptops and never, ever had any registry problems.

Well, the post as it is now is not as it was when I replied. It has been edited and reads different now.

My reply was correct for the unedited version.

My story and I am sticking to it. Smiley: smile
