I have been trying to figure out how the guild banner system works. I've looked around online for some kinda tutorial on how they work, but i was unable to find any. As im sure i'm not the only person wondering how these work. I figured it might be nice to start a thread on this. and hopefully answer some of the questions on this.

The first thing i noticed is that to to change the look of it, you must have a Banner Exchange Insignia: Copper. This will allow you to change things like the background patteren, background color, foreground picture and foreground color. The copper one only costs 1ppish but there are others silver, electrum, gold, platinum, velium, & mithril. What these others do im not sure.

You can also purchase Banner Dye Kit & Banner Material kits. These kits can be combined to give focus effects, stat bonus, buffs and even illusions. These seem to be the same kinda of effects you can get from tributes or the pok potion merchants.

The Banner Dye kits apparently determine the level of the effect and i would imagine some kind of color change. The effect level is in the first part of the dye kits name. These are Initiate, apprentice, neophyte, journeyman, adept, and expert for focus effects (both melee and spellcasting) They affect levels 20, 40, 60, 65, 70, & 75 respectivly. Stats, resistances, illusions, & buffs seem to work slightly different. The level caps are listed for these types but on top of the six previously listed they also have specialist, disciple, master, & grandmaster. There is also a General type listed of type of guild banner but all i can see in there at the moment is the defualt "Standard of honor"

The other aspect to the Dye kits is apperently how they dye your Banner. You can apperantly use Dull, Sharp, Shiny, Vibrant, Brilliant, & Lustrous Dyes. (I listed them from cheapest to most expensive.) When i was looking at the types of effects i could add so far I only saw use for Dull - Vibrant. I have yet to see anything that requires a Brilliant or Lustrous Dyes. With the expection of Spell focus the different type of dye effect a different type of effect. Dull Dyes are for Stat boosts, Sharp dyes are for resistances, Shiny dyes are for Buffs and Illusions, & Vibrant dyes are for Melee focus effects.

Spell focus effects work a bit differently. There are 4 types of focus effect for each level group. so for example there is are 4 initiates standards of anger, 4 apprentice standards of anger, 4 neophyte standards of anger, and so on. Dulls dyes are for the I, Sharp are for II, Shiny are for III, and Vibrant are for IV. so a Banner Dye Kit: Initiate Dye (Dull) will combine to create Initiate Standard of Anger I. if you were to use Banner Dye Kit: Initiate Dye (Sharp) you would get Initiate Standard of Anger II. Please note: regardless of whether you create a I,II,III, or IV all initiate standards will only go up to level 20.

As for what the Banner itself actually looks like there are 59 Foreground symbols you can choose from and you can pick what color this symbol will have. there are 17 backgrounds(18 if you count the default black background.) if you want to see the different backgrounds though you will need to set the background color to something other than black. You could also technically make a pure black banner by leaving it as defaul of black on black. This is the only kind of banner that can be made of a solied color as all other same color combinations will still show the foreground symbol. To begin picking foreground, backgrounds and colors (or just to change this) you will need to click on the edit settings button. If you are a guild leader or officer you can look at the different combinations you make, but to save the changes you will need a No Drop "Banner Exchange Insignia: Copper". (again i dont know what the other for.)

This is about all I was able to figure out from just looking at the Banner tab in the guild management window. Sephorra the Flagger sells the Exchange Insignia's and the Dye kits. Rhondda the Flagger sells the Material kits and a Splinter from a guild Standard. I believe the splinter is what you need to set guild hall transporter as the guy in the guild hall who sells the gems for other guild hall locations also sells one of these. these two girls can be found in the building to the left of the nexus stone in pok (if you're looking at the nexus stone facing north.)

As was stated in the patch message you will need 2 groups in zone to place a guild banner. I believe the banner last for 1 hour. I dont know if you need some kind of component to place the banner. Also i dont know if you can move the banner once placed. This is important because you would probably want to save your special banners for the raid mob if you can't simply pick up the banners and move them. If this were so you could probably place a standard banner at zone entrance and then place special banners when you're at a raid mob. It would be nice if you can simply pick up the banner and move it for the hour you have it, but somehow i don't believe this will be the case.

If anyone has any further information on Guild banners please post any information you may have, as what i have listed if far from complete. Also it would be nice if anyone say if there is a cost associated with placing the banner as well as how you can set the Staff and the Shape of the flag as i can't see how to make those changes.
