Throwing SkillFollow

I Need Some help getting throwing skill to work on two lvl-70 characters, Wiz and Shaman. With throwing items, Daggers and Javelin, ranges from 50feet to 75feet. When I'm too close for a range item, 1 step back, I become Too far away from target. Submitted Bug report to EQ and have received no response. Does any one know of the problem. Throwing skill is lvl-157+. Thank you for any info.
