Basically you do as you would level your character - go fight and kill mobs that give experience. This will unlock the next form in the same line of shrouds. No idea how long it takes, though... haven't used the shroud system except for buff and pet saving when logging out.

Shroud leveling is best achieved (in my experience) as a low level shroud pulling off fast kills on a bit weaker mobs, rather than slower kills on large red con types...

...I went really in depth once on a great method for leveling a shroud very quickly...but I've lost it now of course, perhaps I can dig it up later for you.

Oh, and it takes a long time to get past the first 1% on the shroud xp meter. In some ways that first 1% seems worse than level 59 on your regular toon.

Not to mention its extremely buggy! I was out leveling shrouds and it stayed at 10% for a very long time after a few minutes i checked again and poof 40%.

Also i have no clue how but that same day all but 1 of the shroud forms for me became maxxed out without even using any of them but the one i was on?!?! I petitioned and never got a response so to be on the safe side i havnt touched the shrouds i didnt earn in case they decide to actually look into it.

I believe some people leveled up there shrouds by /opening some mushrooms or something in Corathus Creep?

I remeber soon after dodh was released some friends doing this- it been nerfed or still there?

If it is the easiest start would be rogue shroud at level 5.

All I know is, one day I played an alt I hadn't been on for a week or two, and when I was about to go into Shroud form to keep my pet and its buffs going, I noticed several of the Shrouds had been unlocked somehow. Some types such as Aberrations had all unlocked, other types maybe one or two had, and of the remaining types either one or none had unlocked. Very odd. I sent in a feedback about it, but heard nothing back, so I consider my duty done.

I might well have been in Corathus with that alt, but can't say for sure.

ok, heres the thing on shrouds!!

You turn into one, and you level them up to unlock the other forms in that line.

The first 1% seems to take so long because you are actually going from 0%-2%, that is wht it seems to take forever.

Here is the thing about shrouds, its not based on how much EXP you get ..but the number of kills. So if you really want to unlock a shroud line heres what you do'''''''
1 Pick a shroud any works, and make it level 5
2. get a druid friend or some thorns pots
3. get temperance, makes it so much easier
4. If a caster, get crack pots or clarity
5. Go to Field of Bone and look for the two underground mines to the left
of the path leading away from the city. (should be on map).
6. Go into underground *cave* here you will see Spider that are blue/light
blue to you at level 5.
7. Kill lthem all, they are all on less that 30 sec respawn timer. there is
one room where you can stand in the corner and chain pull, always having a
target, fastest way to solo to unlock a shroud!!!!
