I was born and raised in Florida. I spent 12 years in the Army, when I got out I came back to Florida. I ask myself regularly "Why the hell did I come back here?". I recently started playing EQ again ater about 2 1/2 years away and I am asking myself regularly "Why the hell did I come back here?".

The game is nothing like it used to be, sure the graphics are better and the items are better but the people suck. It is near impossible to get a group. Many players aren't willing to help anyone else. If you're not in a raiding guild then there just really isn't anything this game has to offer and you can't get in a raiding guild unless you are lvl 75 with 500+ aa's. But then you have to quit your job and give up your friends, families, and loved ones so you can meet the raid requirements just to stay in the guild. Too many people running MQ so they can steal the loot from the mob you just killed and the things you want/need are so outrageously priced in the bazaar that by the time you save enough plat to get it then it is tribute fodder by then.

I have only recently almost convinced myself to buy TSS, haven't yet but very close to it. I see absolutely no reason to buy TBS.

To me this seem just like another LDoN expansion that people will do for a month or so then SOE Will come in and nerf everything and make it crap exp and hard to do. TSS was a good expansion imo but mobs are way undercon. I dont see this expansion being busy for long just like LDoN. I could be wrong on this and will just have to see. I agree with another post I wont get this for my alts but if there is high end raid content and my guild gets into it I will buy this for my main. Other than that I dont for see me getting this anytime soon.

Or it could be "Total BS"
#57 Feb 13 2007 at 12:23 PM Rating: Decent
I have absolutely no intention of ever buying this, let alone caring anything about it. Even being a high end raider, I will take a serious look at retirement before I ever click order for this expansion. Ship to ship combat is stupid, just another way for guild members to fall in the water and waste hours of time. The quests although good for Solo and casual group players in TSS were annoying, and took way too much time to get flagged for Ashengate alone, let alone Frostcrypt. Ykesha has already been made, so I've had my dose of Pirates. Someone needs to let Sony's programmers and development team know that they've been watching too much Pirates of the Carribean lately, while a good movie, I have no desire to play it in my video games. The only decent thing to come out of this is the guild banner, but even then we've lived without it for how long? This is the most worthless expansion yet, and if any of the few they plan on releasing this year and into 08 are as bad as this BS. Everquest won't survive much longer than that.

I have been playing almost every day since Dec 99 and have preordered every expansion but this one. I just still dont see anything that I can use here. I rarely do groups with the same ppl over and over. Its always many different ppl in my guild or in pickup groups, so the campfire thing seems a waste. Guild banners seem like they are mostly for ppl who are late to your raid, cant follow the group, or are totally unfamiliar with the zone we are raiding and are afraid of getting killed or lost on the way there. (It seems every time we travel across MPG to some trial or something, somebody in my guild gets lost or killed.)

Why couldnt they have done something universally useful like add bank slots or at least a couple scrappy aa's that are all/all type so the developers dont have to think too hard. Maybe even one or two of the LDR aa's. Its been forever since I had all the LDR aa's done. Even something stupid like "Greater Lightstone" - provides your group with a light source.

They didnt even do much at all for tradeskillers like myself. Quote from eqtraders.com:
"There is not a lot of tradeskill content in this one, mainly baking and brewing plus a few miscellaneous things for other skills"

POR and TSS expansions both had much to offer, granted that POR is mostly for levels 69+ though, even though they do have that 55 aura.

I wonder if you will be able to do a simple quest in TBS for a parrot familiar! hehe. It will probably have +2 charisma or +1 faction rating when dealing with pirate faction quest givers.

I have 4 accounts and I'm going to have to pass on getting this one, I dont hard core raid anymore so theres nothing for me in this one.

There's 1 raid zone in tbs. That's it. No other raid content.

Don't get me wrong I think the expansion is a piece of ***** after having beta but it is not geared towards raiding.

Most negative responce I've seen to this pool question since I started just before LDON. Not good for eq.

Well, I preordered and I guess since it's live now (if the servers would come up...) I won't be cancelling it. There are some spells I hope to get, but I sure wish I could earn those spells while catching up with spells and gear from other expansions! I would say this will probably be my last expansion to pay for. Someone said it's like paying for a movie for two, but I'm already paying monthly fees, and haven't finished watching the other movies I've paid for!

Acronyms and initialisms are abbreviations, such as NATO, laser, and IBM, that are formed using the initial letters of words or word parts in a phrase or name. Acronyms and initialisms are usually pronounced in a way that is distinct from that of the full forms for which they stand: as the names of the individual letters (as in IBM), as a word (as in NATO), or as a combination (as in IUPAC).

I think we all knew what he ment by BS and your abbreviation of TotalBS.
Before you get cute and rip someone for posting a humorous comment atleast know what the hell your talking about!

Wow, that made no sense...

ac·ro·nym /ˈækrənɪm/ Pronunciation Key - Show Spelled Pronunciation[ak-ruh-nim] Pronunciation Key - Show IPA Pronunciation
–noun 1. a word formed from the initial letters or groups of letters of words in a set phrase or series of words

So, you're saying that an acronym can also be an "initialism" but an initialism isn't an acronym if it doesnt form a word as the above definition states, then you're proving my point for me. TBSdoes not form a word so it isn't an acronym, it isn't grammatically correct, and it isn't funny. At all.

I do know what I'm talking about which therefore gives me the right to rip on an idiot making a "humorous" comment (it wasn't humorous, it was stupid, much like your attempt to defend him) so next time you try and stick up for some common idiot know what you're talking about.

By the way (which can be abbreviated BTW and is not an acronym just so you can take notes) it's spelled "meant" not "ment".

PWNED (also not an acronym)

Between me and wife we own 5 accounts. Usually play late at night when its hardest to find groups so we end up making our own and just inviting others when they show up asking. As for this newest expansion, we have no plans of buying it any time soon. Theres just not anything we are interested in and theres still so much to do in tss. Like alot of others we are still trying to see everything in the previous expansions. These are being released way to quick!

Like all other expansions, I ordered it for all my accounts and am quite frankly disappointed already.

I got it for 4 of the 7 accounts that my wife and I maintain. Yhe other 3 are mainly tradeskill mules or whatever - not actively played.

I'm definitely looking forward to it. I waited too long to try out TSS and when I did my 2 main toons went from 65 to 71 very quickly - been grinding AA's very successfully for awhile and am ready for new content.

And if you read the details - most of the content is on dry land not in the water. Really looking forward to checking out the new zones.

Initialism originally described abbreviations formed from initials, without reference to pronunciation (which is what the poster should have used); but, during the mid 20th century, when such abbreviations saw more use than ever before, the word acronym was coined for abbreviations pronounced as words, such as NATO and AIDS.

Dear idiot who can't even spell the word "meant":

First off, I could care less if it's frowned (that's the proper spelling by the way, which you did not use) to argue over trivial points, I would not have refrained from saying it face to face and I'm fairly sure it wouldn't result in the breaking of my nose and you better watch who you make idiotic comments like that to, let me tell you right now.

I really don't understand you.. you keep proving my point over and over and this time you decided to add in stupid little comments that didn't make sense and try to sound all intellectual (you didn't) but face it, you're the moron who spelled "meant" wrong (You also spelled several other basic words wrong too in case anyone needs to know). You can go on all you want but I'm done with this thread and I'm done with you.

And not really sure why you said "checkmate" since I'm pretty sure we're not playing chess here and you didn't win, not even close, unless your point was just to post definitions that proved my point =P

Your former enemy,
JCS

Not typos, you're an ignorant hillbilly that can't spell.

I wasn't incorrect when I pointed out that the previously mentioned idiot was wrong in calling TBS an acronym, as I've already proven, an acronym is a word, TBS is not.. we're not talking quantum physics here, it's not that hard to understand, really.

I didn't incorrectly correct him (which by the way I'm pretty sure you cannot "incorrectly correct" someone.. kinda cancels itself out doesnt it? But don't strain yourself trying to think that one over - it's a toughie) I was right, and I have proven I was right. And as far as addressing why I had to point it out... who cares, it's my buisness and you had to go and stick your uneducated nose into it and pop off with your (incorrect) opinion about the situation.

I don't need to look up "metaphor", I know what it means but maybe you should look up acronym.. Oh wait that's right I already posted the definition and proved myself right and all you did was say i was wrong and then state exactly what I just said in different words.. nice try =P

In conclusion, an acronym is a word formed by the first letters of a group of words... The Buried Sea, or TBS, is not a word, therefore, not an acronym, making the person who called it an acronym, wrong. That's all there is to it, is it that simple.
